The Freerange Gardener: April 2015
http://freerangegardener.blogspot.com/2015_04_01_archive.html
Life in a Devon garden. Monday, 20 April 2015. Not Dead Yet. Back from gardening leave with a hybrid skunk. So I came back from Chelsea last May, knuckled down to a spot of weeding and whoosh! Nearly a year went by. How did that happen? It certainly wasn't intentional. Anyway, the good news is it's spring all over again. The buttermilk hood and green spathe of the skunk cabbage Lysichiton. And Hemlock Water-dropwort Oenanthe crocata. Though the latter is highly poisonous and should be used with caution.
The Freerange Gardener: February 2014

Life in a Devon garden. Friday, 28 February 2014. Plant of the Moment No. 19: Daphne bholua 'Jacqueline Postill'. In flower since late December and still going strong, with many buds yet to open, this semi-evergreen shrub fills a large area of the garden with an intoxicating, almost addictive scent – particularly if you stand downwind on a mild day with the lightest of breezes. Unlike some Daphnes. Posted by Tim Jones. Tuesday, 25 February 2014. Sunshine between the showers. Posted by Tim Jones. Cedric M...

Life in a Devon garden. Sunday, 27 April 2014. Plant of the Moment No.23: Omphalodes cappadocica 'Cherry Ingram'. One of the most vivid blues in the spring garden, Omphalodes cappadocica. Goldflame' – especially after a shower of rain. Posted by Tim Jones. Saturday, 26 April 2014. Have included our first ever Red Kite. Which drifted SW over the valley on 19th April (still an unusual bird in Devon); singing Willow Warblers. Passing through on migration; a cuckooing Cuckoo. And the first Speckled Woods.
The Freerange Gardener: March 2014
http://freerangegardener.blogspot.com/2014_03_01_archive.html
Life in a Devon garden. Friday, 14 March 2014. Is the traditional transcription of the two-note alarm call of Chaffinches. Followed by a series of numbers. A quick internet search and an email soon elicited confirmation that the bird had indeed been tagged in Norway, in early autumn, on its way south to spend the winter in the comparative mildness of a British winter. Chionodoxa forbesii 'Pink Giant'. 8211; a last hurrah. Dog's-tooth Violet; modestly nodding flowers with gorgeous marbled leaves. Stimulat...

My dabbling in my hobbies, sports, politics and family. It’s impossible to remain silent. It has been a tough week and I cannot remain silent anymore. I have been reading post after post on Facebook. Friends, dear friends, relatives have all been sharing. And I know that for each of their who have shared there are undoubtedly more who cannot or will not share. I just cannot keep silent anymore. October 17, 2017. Accepting, nay welcoming, change #mentalhealth. I could have faced this with anger, anxiety a...
