Bean Dip and Baby G: Meet Marigold
http://susanmarie210.blogspot.com/2015/08/meet-marigold.html
Friday, August 7, 2015. Another first for our family - a pet! We finally bit the bullet and committed to another family member. G has been wanting a kitten for ages, and so, for an early birthday present, she adopted Marigold today. She is about nine weeks old, and so far, seems to be adjusting well. G is just beside herself with happiness. But, he might be coming around. He still hasn't touched her once, but he likes watching her play, and he even volunteered to feed her in the mornings.

pen at the ready: November 2013
http://penattheready.blogspot.com/2013_11_01_archive.html
Pen at the ready. Sunday, November 24, 2013. I rely on BBC for much of my electronic news. Over breakfast today, I read the news on my tablet. Today’s big story—after the Iran nuclear deal—is England’s “crushing defeat” in Australia. The article explains the nature of the defeat in a language utterly incomprehensible to me. In this case, the medium is cricket. What I glean from that opening is that England took a thrashing. How that thrashing occurred, however, is mystifying to the likes of me. The frost...

Pen at the ready. Sunday, June 21, 2015. Today is my first Father's Day without a father of my own. It's just one more opportunity for me to conjure up some good memories. And that's easy to do. Recently, I came across Dad's hand-written Ten Commandments and sent them to my siblings. My brother, of course, reminded me of the original fifteen. And Dad would have loved the association with Mel Brooks. Dad at Nantes Cathedral, France. 1 Thou shalt open thine eyes to perceive the "round about.". I admit that...

Monday, January 4, 2016. It's the last day of winter break, and, wow, is it cold. I think winter has finally come to join us. We had such a busy first part of break, filled with travel, parties, family, and celebrations. And to balance that, we've had an incredibly quiet second half, filled with illness, rest, and recovery. So, today, it's time to get back into things. We have errands to run, and that means getting dressed and going. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). View my complete profile.

pen at the ready: Elne
http://penattheready.blogspot.com/2014/10/elne.html
Pen at the ready. Thursday, October 9, 2014. Southwest from Canet-Plage is the town of Elne. Like Canet, there's the beach Elne and the town Elne- each separated from the other but joined in municipality and in history. Elne was the capital of Roussillon in antiquity. And its cathedral- built in the 11th century stands over the town. Looking over Roman wall into "new" town. The cathedral and its neighborhoods are inside the ancient Roman walls with narrow streets- many pedestrianized- and narrow buildings.
