The great thing about going out and experiencing new places is that there is always an opportunity to find more places to explore. At Kefa Cafe I happened to spot a postcard flyer advertising Fenton Street Market. I got a free book out of the excursion, and Laura got a 5-minutes-of-fame modeling opportunity! The book is a biography on Madame Germaine de Staël.

The following link to an NYT article (actually it is an open letter to the President Elect) by Michael Pollen is a must read for anyone who is concerned about pretty much the state of anything. He succeeds in illustrating how our food (and agriculture) are connected to almost everything and explains why massive reform is necessary. I highly recommend reading it, however I will warn you that it is LONG.

Breakfast & brunch. Tips & tricks. Cucumber and Pomegranate Salad. March 13, 2014. Juice of 1 lime. 3 Tbls. pistachio or olive oil. Freshly ground black pepper. C chopped red onion. C chopped fresh mint. About 6 Persian cucumbers or 1 long seedless English cucumber. Seeds of 2 pomegranates. 2 Tbls. slivered pistachios (optional). C crumbled feta (optional). Whisk ingredients for dressing and add to salad. Toss and season with more salt, lime juice and olive oil to taste. Tip. Tagged as: cucumber salad.
