The first work party commenced conservation work in the lower reach. Southern bank of the lower reach cleared and 600 trees and shrubs planted. Stone wall and crazy paved path completed in the lower reach. Summer Fest . almost rained off. Clearing of the southern footpath in the middle reach completed. Works Diary for June. This has been a busy month, with planting of over 1000 wild flower pugs, school and E.E. telecomunications visit, and 1 outside activity. The weathers been reasonable this month, although the rain during the month did stop some of the planned work at times. Coquet Park First School came along and planted up the wild flower plugs they had grown for us, we have also planted up trays from Marine Park First School and Whitley Lodge First School as they were not able to attend. The group Friends of the Bridgewater Canal (Sale). Concerns itself with a four kilometre stretch of the Canal which runs north to south through Sale from the bridge carrying the M60 in the north to Timperley Bridge (Park Road) in the south. The Canal more or less bisects Sale east from west. It is Sale's most significant feature, historically fascinating and very attractive in places.
