Chicken politics | Frog Pond Farm

http://frogpondfarm.co.nz/2015/05/19/chicken-politics

May 19, 2015. I don’t know about you, but I always love getting home after being away. Of course even a few days away, can often mean that the garden becomes unruly in my absence. On my return peering around the hedge I wasn’t disappointed. The fennel had doubled in size (we ate one last night – delish), the chilli bushes which are sporting loads of red habaneros were sprawling everywhere (it won’t be long and they will be hoisted out so the garlic can go in), and the nasturtium! I do love getting beds r...

Monthly Archives: April 2015. Who loves the beach? April 28, 2015. There is nothing like a walk on the beach with the dog to start the day. Better still when the autumn weather is still balmy. First day of winter | Frog Pond Farm

http://frogpondfarm.co.nz/2015/06/02/first-day-of-winter

First day of winter. June 2, 2015. Well it was yesterday and the good news is, there is only 3 months to go! I’ve decided it’s time for another rooster . my girls seem to be suffering from ‘Rooster blues’. They appear to be missing male companionship and are in need of a lad to curtail their ‘hen pecking’ ways. Me, well I miss my 5.30am alarm crow. I’m thinking a Langshan rooster a fine looking black chicken. Self seeded unripe pumpkin … LOL. How is your garden? I haven’t …. And tagged Langshan chicken.

July 6, 2015. It’s time to hook up with the team from Garden Share Collective. 8230; a great initiative where a group of international bloggers share their gardens with you. Thanks Lizzy! Now that winter solstice has passed us by, the days are ever so slowly getting longer. The weather is still cold and damp, but the good news is warmer weather will be with us soon – won’t it? Winter or not I am still harvesting veges and herbs, citrus and eggs too of course! Broadbeans standing to attention! I was going...

A Repurposed Christmas ~ Blue Jeans and Dirty Gumboots

http://bluejeansanddirtygumboots.blogspot.com/2016/12/a-repurposed-christmas.html

Make It From Scratch. Saturday, 24 December 2016. A post to (hopefully) inspire you to look at old things in a new way. This post should have been up long before now, but time has just gotten away from me, so there may not be any time to make them this year, but that gives you a whole year to decide which ones will feature in your Christmas decorating next year. Bed springs can be used to make the cutest little Christmas trees. But if you don't have the wall space for a gate, how about a bicycle wheel.

Make It From Scratch. Thursday, 28 April 2016. I was lucky enough to score some free herbs this week, herbs that had reached their use by date,  herbs that would otherwise have ended up as landfill. My apology for the less than stellar quality photos, my kitchen doesnt have. Good light at the best of times and today is overcast and grey. Posted in Curry Leaves. Monday, 25 April 2016. The Garden in December ~ Blue Jeans and Dirty Gumboots

http://bluejeansanddirtygumboots.blogspot.com/2017/01/the-garden-in-december.html

Make It From Scratch. Monday, 2 January 2017. The Garden in December. This post was meant to be my last one for 2016, but I got busy with other things so instead it is my first post for the brand new year. While I might not enjoy the heat of summer it seems the garden does. The butternut pumpkins are doing fantastically well this year and are starting to outgrow their beds and onto the pathway, they are producing lots of female flowers which I hope the bees are busy pollinating. Took a turn for the worse...

http://bluejeansanddirtygumboots.blogspot.com/2016_10_01_archive.html

Make It From Scratch. Saturday, 29 October 2016. We all love our vegetable garden to be productive that goes without saying, but is it possible to have a vegetable that is not only productive, but beautiful as well. Below are some ideas that just might help to achieve that. Create a beautiful entrance to your vegetable garden with an arbour, gate and fence. Add A Focal Point With A Garden or Potting Shed. If you don't have enough room for a large shed what about a tool shed. They can be simple,. And when...
