Leon didn't know he needed to make a stop at Wall Drug, but I did. They proclaim to have as many as 20,000 visitors a day and from what we saw I believe it. You guys are having way to much fun! in-the-right-lane: Bighorn National forest
http://in-the-right-lane.blogspot.com/2013/07/bighorn-national-forest.html
This is about life after retirement - the good life - the slow lane - the right lane: a journal of our travels beginning in 2006. July 10, 2013. The Bighorns seemed a logical location to escape the rising temperatures in Sheridan for a couple of days. After lunch and a great visit with Barbara and Ron we retuned to the bank to get Leon's ATM card from the card eating machine we visited on Sunday and headed west. The temperatures dropped as we ascended into the forest. I can sure see why my friends have s...

This is about life after retirement - the good life - the slow lane - the right lane: a journal of our travels beginning in 2006. July 15, 2013. Spearfish to North Dakota and back. It would have saved a lot of time and gas had I picked up a geocache when I was in North Dakota in 2003. I had no idea a goal would be to geocache in every state at that time, but I only lack three states now. At least the ride up from Spearfish is on a dotted road. White and pinks to purples seemed to be the flower colors for...

King Ranch, Tx - Jan 15, 2006. After I left Sattler I headed for Corpus Christi and stopped at the La Bonte park. At exit 16 on I 37 before Corpus. Just Ziggy and I. Ziggy and I traveled together from 1998 - 2001. We visited about 40 states, many from the back of a tow truck but what an adventure it was! Northwest U.S. - Summer 2001. Summer had come to Arkansas and it was time to head west to the mountains and cooler temperatures. Red Rock Canyon. Seemed a good spot for the first night. I enjoyed hiking the red rocks along the old wagon trail left but early settlers moving west. South of Amarillo is Palo Duro Canyon. A stay at Pleasure Park. Provide...

Just Ziggy and I. Ziggy and I traveled together from 1998 - 2001. We visited about 40 states, many from the back of a tow truck but what an adventure it was! NC to Washington, NC 9/12/1998. I spent the night of September 10 at the Hanging Dog Recreation Area. North Carolina. I forgot about the time change until dusk found me in Murphy. Had I not missed the turn, which again seemed to be a habit at dusk,. It had a guard rail on one side and cliffs on either side of the road in many places. It is what ...

Just Ziggy and I. Ziggy and I traveled together from 1998 - 2001. We visited about 40 states, many from the back of a tow truck but what an adventure it was! Yorktown, Virginia 9/19/1998. The second leg of my journey took me through the middle Atlantic with detours to places I had always hoped to visit, such as the Pennsylvania Dutch country. I had relaxed for a week in North Carolina and had kept a check on the foliage reports for New England. I seemed to be right on schedule. I came to my campground.

This is about life after retirement - the good life - the slow lane - the right lane: a journal of our travels beginning in 2006. July 01, 2013. Deja vu in Bozeman. In 2001 I went through Bozeman, Mt on the way to camp in the Gallatin National Forest. This time I explored the town a little more and thoroughly enjoyed it. I like the idea that various people or businesses sponsor their flower baskets. I thought it was neat and a first for me to see the garage theme with license plates used for menus.

This is about life after retirement - the good life - the slow lane - the right lane: a journal of our travels beginning in 2006. July 06, 2013. 54 miles of scenic beauty enticed me to make the drive from Cooke City to Red Lodge, Montana. At almost 11,000 feet you have sweeping vistas of snow covered mountains while driving a narrow winding two lane road with steep drop offs at times. The clouds were heavy much of the way with the approaching storms. I first met Red Lodge when I passed through in 2001 an...

Carson NF, New Mexico - July 2005. In July I met Marion, my fishing pal from Texas, in New Mexico for a little fly fishing excursion. I spent the first night at the Holiday Inn in Elk City, OK. It was quite hot there on July 10 but we would soon solve the heat problem. I met Marion at Rocky Point Campground.
