The Mummy's Bracelet: September 2011
http://themummysbracelet.blogspot.com/2011_09_01_archive.html
Saturday, September 24, 2011. It's been really interesting meeting people from various colleges and courses. Everyone seems really enthusiastic about what they do, which is extremely refreshing compared to other scenarios I've found myself in over the past year. We had the first set of workshops this month and I met a lot of very nice people, although there did seem to be a lot of slightly frantic (desperate? View my complete profile. From the Dark Archive. The Mummy's Bracelet: April 2011
http://themummysbracelet.blogspot.com/2011_04_01_archive.html
Sunday, April 17, 2011. There is useful stuff on various websites about what people actually do with their PhDs. I found Beyond the PhD. To do There were even a couple of profiles for people who ended up in research support (fancy that, a bit like me! Hhmm, so it looks like that's the start of my post-doc action plan for now, I suppose. Blogs are good for thinking things through, particularly when you've exhausted real people's ears on the subject you're endlessly pondering. View my complete profile.

The Mummy's Bracelet: July 2010

Sunday, July 04, 2010. Haven't fancied writing anything for ages as all the stuff that's been preoccupying me wasn't really appropriate, given my rather half-hearted occasional attempts at anonymity and trying to be sensible about what I stick on the internet. The Mummy's Bracelet: January 2011

Saturday, January 29, 2011. There are better videos of tumbleweeds (I know because I have spent a disturbing amount of time watching them, in true procrastinator style) but this one has the advantage of being set to Frankie Laine's perky 'Rawhide'- a genius combination. The Mummy's Bracelet: December 2009
http://themummysbracelet.blogspot.com/2009_12_01_archive.html
Sunday, December 20, 2009. Monday, December 14, 2009. The changing face of beggars. At me a while ago. That's inflation, I suppose. I quite admired her cheek for asking, but I wasn't shocked. The granny-beggar today was memorable as she seemed so normal. Maybe it was some scam, or maybe she was after her next fix, who knows, but I gave her a quid and hoped that's not going to be the way elderly people are having to supplement their pensions nowadays. The Mummy's Bracelet: March 2011

Monday, March 07, 2011. A perfectly valid thing to ask) and the answer was 'you need medical help.' Not a very creative response for anyone wanting to investigate hot rod art. Eyes do feel a bit flamey when you've had scans with lasers or whatever they use, your vision goes all pink for a day or so. Quite weird. Despite that, I am looking forward to having some eye operations soon. I must finish this lecture. I'll make a cup of tea and get on with it. View my complete profile. From the Dark Archive.

The Mummy's Bracelet: Chelsea Ducks
http://themummysbracelet.blogspot.com/2011/06/chelsea-ducks.html
Sunday, June 12, 2011. The other day I helped out with an event we were organising at work, a fairly formal lecture by a Professor from one of our colleges. Unfortunately I missed most of the lecture as I was doing other stuff and ended up standing by the door on the embankment for most of the evening. Events management is so glamorous. Hi Claire, just been catching up with your blog, always an entertaining read.yes something about ducks that is cheerful.hoping for wildfowl on the canal when we m...Well,...

The Mummy's Bracelet: May 2011
http://themummysbracelet.blogspot.com/2011_05_01_archive.html
Friday, May 20, 2011. View from my hospital window. It's my favourite hospital. A former Mayor and benefactor. Monday, May 09, 2011. I was wondering what a quagmire bracelet would look like. It was a search term I saw in my blog statistics. It must have come via an old post about the PhD experience (feeling like I was in a quagmire, as on the moors in The Hound of the Baskervilles. This is a definition. 16th C. from quag mire]. 1 an area of miry or boggy ground whose land yields under the tread; a bog.

The Mummy's Bracelet: November 2009
http://themummysbracelet.blogspot.com/2009_11_01_archive.html
Thursday, November 19, 2009. This is a rant. About couriers, I'm afraid, so apologies to any couriers who deliver things properly. When did vague, blurry, generalised digital photos with no date and time stamp start being used by courier firms as proof that they tried to deliver something? I can't believe that I was presented with this image twice. I'd forgotten how useful blogs could be for venting one's spleen occasionally. Someone on a forum. There's a surprisingly satisfying jigsaw puzzle. But still ...
