Sunday, August 2, 2015. Oligarchy: It's Here and It's Obvious. A new oligarchic era of American politics came into full view on Friday, as super PACs disclosed fundraising details showing billionaires bankrolling the 2016 presidential race to an unprecedented degree. fromtheeditr: June 2015

http://fromtheeditr.blogspot.com/2015_06_01_archive.html

Tuesday, June 30, 2015. An Inexpensive Alternative to an Auto Repair. Over the weekend, I ran into a car problem that could have cost upwards of $100 to solve, but wound up costing just a little over $5. The clerk said the store could do the check- for $100 minimum- but the mechanic who did that would not be in until Monday. My friend Janeson suggested we try Advance Auto or Auto Zone, neither of which is far from my house. Links to this post. Monday, June 29, 2015. Supremes Emptying Out Prison Cells.

fromtheeditr: Williamson Road: A Lot of Talk, Little Action

http://fromtheeditr.blogspot.com/2015/08/williamson-road-lot-of-talk-little.html

Monday, August 3, 2015. Williamson Road: A Lot of Talk, Little Action. This Searstown was the center of the Williamson Road world in 1963. The local daily had a story about development along Williamson Road Sunday ( here. That came about as close to missing the point as I can imagine. It talked about officials taking walks along the road, looking at broken sidewalks and broken signs, dreams of creating a 54,000-square-foot mall area, about how some merchants love the area, about the traffic count. Nor is...

http://fromtheeditr.blogspot.com/2015/07/the-real-beauty-and-beast.html

Friday, July 31, 2015. The Real Beauty and the Beast. This is Madeline and me tonight just after the Mill Mountain Theatre production of "Beauty and the Beast, Jr." Madeline was simply lovely in her polka-dot dress with the huge ribbon in the back and the beautifully-dimpled smile. Best date I've had in a looooong time. It was a dream for an old man and the kid seemed to like it a lot too. A great topping to a marvelous birthday (mine). Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). fromtheeditr: What the Hell Are the Xmas Parade Organizers Thinking?

http://fromtheeditr.blogspot.com/2014/12/what-hell-are-xmas-parade-organizers.html

Friday, December 12, 2014. What the Hell Are the Xmas Parade Organizers Thinking? This was the last straw tonight. The Dickens of a Christmas parade has been a favorite of mine for a few years now, but the bottom fell out tonight. The parade has deteriorated, I suspect, because the people in charge of it are completely devoid of any kind of sensitivity. Just tell these damn rednecks "no," they can't be in the parade and if they protest, tell them you've banned the KKK and Westside Baptist, too. Yeah, as ...

At Day's End…Are We There Yet? Finding the other side of yourself after you've already tried to be Superwoman. About Lori Wray White. I love to cook. I find myself wishing sometimes that life were simpler so I would have more time to be in the kitchen…Autumn’s tumbling schedule of four days/week, two-plus hours each afternoon has really put a crimp in things the last couple of years, although I wouldn’t change it for anything. And tell me your story. I love adding to the collection. Leave one →. Leave a ...

Dan Radmacher's blog on politics and whatever. Trump is Tommy DeVeto. August 7, 2016. Every time I watch Donald Trump give a speech, I’ve been reminded of someone, and trying to figure out who has been driving a little bit crazy. Was it Frank Pantengeli in Godfather 2? Was it one of the Three Stooges? Then Trump appeared to throw a baby out of one of his speeches. It was astonishing:. Or was he serious? This, like the revelation that Trump was only joking about the baby, is not really comforting. There h...

I imagine that whenever any writer hands over a piece for feedback, he’s wanting (and probably expecting) to hear back just how great it is. It’s wonderful! I’ve been putting out some early chapters of my novel to a few writer friends. Today, I got feedback from one. She said the bones are good. This has been a s...

From the editor's chair. Just another WordPress.com site. A story about a little bird named Chirpmaster Chirp … really. June 17, 2015. Chirpmaster Chirp looked a lot like this little guy. OK, you can call me nuts but yes, I did actually drive 25 miles one morning to taxi a tiny house finch from my garage to the Schuylkill Wildlife Rehab Clinic. And no, the little bird wasn’t in need of. Don’t you hear that? A few minutes later Dr. Doolittle and his young apprentice came back into the house proudly pr...

Letters from the Editors | Philosophy Journal Editors' Perspectives on Academic Publishing

Letters from the Editors. Philosophy Journal Editors' Perspectives on Academic Publishing. Over at Daily Nous there’s some excerpts of advice on refereeing papers. Much of the quoted advice is things not. To do, and one caught my eye:. It is not your job to be copy editor. And yet, despite the advice quoted above and my own personal inclination, I believe there are reasons why it is appropriate for referees to provide this sort of feedback (which is why I do it myself). 8221; For a paper which has gramma...

From The Elder Law Attorney's Desk

From The Elder Law Attorney's Desk. Wednesday, September 15, 2010. They say time flies as you get older? When I stop and think about that old adage, I wonder how time can possibly go faster that it is already passing. Sometimes I feel like I’m still stuck in July and then someone fills me in that we are now in September. Another wife stopped what she was doing upon learning that her husband did not have much longer to live. From that point, and until his last breath, she gave all of herself to make h...
