From the House on the Hill

From the House on the Hill. Saturday, January 4, 2014. The one about the sad stuff pt. 2. I had been meaning to call someone about my snap for about a week but I couldn't decide who to call. My favorite NP had left our family practice a year or so ago, but she worked for JMU's health center, but that didn't open til Jan. 6th. And I couldn't get a new patient appointment with the osteopath that I really want our family to start seeing until February. You can read more of my history with depression here.

From the House on the Hill. Monday, January 23, 2012. Granola, crunchy, earth mama. Yes, i'm granola. I enjoy the more natural things on and in my body. I'm not totally crunchy, just a little bit. I don't have all organic foods, nor do i have all organic body products. Heck i slather Ivy in highly processed petrolum products every day. But i use cloth diapers and mama cloth. I have home births without medication. So home-made deoderant wasn't a huge leap for me. Here's what you need and how to do it:.

From the House on the Hill. Friday, February 3, 2012. Meeting THE Ina Mae Gaskin. Back in November of 2011 i was privileged to go with a group of amazing women to the Birth Matters of Virginia. Banquet. our local chapter of Birth Matters got enough people rounded up to reserve 2 tables. Sounds fun right? Well, to make it even more enticing THE Ina Mae Gaskin was the guest speaker. i mean come ON! Sort of thoughts arise, can we say ppd? In an Indian restaurant in Provo, UT and that was nothing to me. ...

From the House on the Hill. Sunday, May 27, 2012. With great power comes great responsibility. There are so many things to be responsible for in this life. The food that you put in your body. The actions that you do. The words that you say. The things you buy with your money. The thoughts that you think. I've been muddling around with the thought for a long time. That the problems that i,. And many many women,. See within the prenatal and childbirth care arena. Is really a problem of responsibility.

From the House on the Hill. Thursday, July 11, 2013. June 12th we made it into California! We stopped at a gas station/restaurant/military history museum just inside the state border. Honestly, one should never assume there is good food at a gas station. seriously, NEVER. But this was the first time we stopped for fast food the entire trip. Here are the random tanks outside the General Patton Memorial Museum. very interesting pit stop for sure. Labels: Road trip 2013. Getting to LA.almost. Crazy about ca...

From the House on the Hill. Sunday, June 30, 2013. Driving to Austin.and some colors. Sunday morning we got up and had a lovely visit at the chapel where Christian's uncle is Bishop. it was odd to be there during their stake conference, but it was nice to hear his uncle talk so long! Oh, it's at this point that i should probably tell the story of the crayons in the wash. So do you remember when we went to the Fort Collins stock yards? Here are some pictures of the cute kids together. And so we decided th...

What was I thinking about just now? When I was a child, I spake as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child: but when I became a woman, I put away childish things. Thursday, July 28, 2011. Why I didn't change my name. In case you didn't know, my full name is exactly the same as it was before I tied the proverbial knot. You may be confused as to why I would choose to be unorthodox in this way. Let me enlighten you. If you are single, what would you do with your name if you got married? I've ...

Saturday, December 31, 2011. I'm, as It Turns Out, Not Perfect! The other day I was visiting my brother-in-law's hardware store. The conversation turned to Brother-in-Law's very large Toyota Tundra. I jokingly said that it might even qualify as a compensation mobile. I felt rather depressed and lethargic for the rest of the day.

Holt Family of Four. James, Danika, Ethan and Joshua. Sunday, November 6, 2011. A move, pumpkins, halloween, a birthday that almost wasn't and an unwelcome visitor. This past month or so has been super busy. We've moved out of our apartment and into a house. That was a super adventure along a super bumpy road, but that's a story for another day. The point is that we're in! And we're loving it! James locked the keys in the moving truck. oops! We definitely felt the love! It was so cute! This little guy ha...
