Flotsam and Jetsam: November 2009
http://victorialocal.blogspot.com/2009_11_01_archive.html
What is it about Gorilla Suits? I was looking for the song about the "lime in the coconut" - and now I know it's a Harry Nilsson song called Coconut. It's one of those songs that gets stuck in your head, possibly because (according to Wikipedia), "the entire song is played using one chord, C 7th." (weird). Anyway, I found this video of a performance of it from 1971. in gorilla suits. Gorilla suits always make me think of the end of Trading Places. My favourite non-Christmas Christmas movie. :). The photo...
Flotsam and Jetsam: May 2010
http://victorialocal.blogspot.com/2010_05_01_archive.html
As I suggested last week. I have made the decision to move my blog to a hosted WordPress version to replace this blog. I'm not moving over the content, just the operations. I'll be reorganizing all the blog pointers and feed tweeters and all that so, fear not, if you don't come to this page directly to read Flotsam, you'll still get a reminder. In the meantime, here's the new Flotsam and Jetsam. Thanks for nothing, Google. Sure, there is a "report abuse" button but that is only to be used for reporting a...
Flotsam and Jetsam: October 2009
http://victorialocal.blogspot.com/2009_10_01_archive.html
Falling back and such. Since we still haven't solved that whole Daylight Savings nonsense, tonight we'll be changing a bunch of clocks (and the rest tomorrow). Right now, I am making the most of what is left of Halloween by watching Practical Magic. I stayed home to hand out candy while Hubby took Kiddo around the neighbourhood and then off to Oak Bay to see the bonfire. BTW, I saw several people wearing that mask yesterday among the many protesters in Centennial Square. Star Wars zombie art. For the fir...
Flotsam and Jetsam: Press Clipping Day!
http://victorialocal.blogspot.com/2010/05/press-clipping-day.html
1 With my Frugal Victoria. Hat on, I was interviewed for the Globe and Mail. Last week - the story, Extreme Frugality: Can you outcheap 'em all? Ran in today's Life section. Despite a couple of minor misquotes, I'm pretty happy with it (as in, for the most part, I don't seem to sound like a crazy person). 2 My Coffee Haiku Minibook. Was featured at The Fifth Street Palace in an ongoing blog series $5 and Under. Oh, excellent, excellent, excellent. Show Them. How. Its. Done. 5/5/10, 9:58 AM.

I can still teach. From the time I was 6 until sometime in the midst of my third year of university I wanted to be a teacher. ( Actually, there was also a brief year or two when I wanted to be a neuropsychologist, until I realized how many biology classes I would have to take. I clearly remember announcing in first grade that I wanted to be a teacher when I grew up, in part because my teacher, Mrs. Johansen, was great. I never really outgrew the idea but instead circumstances changed. I never did that ce...

Frugal Veggie Mama
My two cents on being a frugal, vegetarian, mother, yoga instructor, knitter and eco friendly human. Tuesday, February 24, 2015. After a long run, prolific for a long time and mostly silent for even longer, I am stepping away from this blog and moving on to new adventures. I've tried to make my new endeavors fit within the confines of this blog but it feels wrong to me. The archives will remain since they continue to receive fair amount of traffic even after all this time. Links to this post. I think I'm...

Frugal Vet Tech (Student) | The life of a married vet tech student, climbing out of debt
Frugal Vet Tech (Student). The life of a married vet tech student, climbing out of debt. It’s been a while, eh? Yikes Really a long while. Sorry ’bout that. One more d...
