Like the 1995/97 red/blue home shirt, the white away. Used between 1996 and 1998 takes its inspiration from a historic Bayern shirt from the past. Modelled on the very similar white. In line with what would be the predominant football shirt fashion during the mid-1990s this shirt has a stylised white button-up collar with blue and red trim, with most of the additional detailing in white such as the three shoulder stripes, stitched Adidas logo, and embossed Opel logo. Would appropriately be worn during the 2001 UEFA Champions’ League final, and I ordered this particular item from the club shot just prior to that historic evening against Valencia CF in Milan’s San Siro. The rather questionable navy blue home shirt would be followed at the turn of the millennium by a more traditional-looking red and dark blue design, but one that would still have a number of modern features. There is an “Official Replica” patch on the lower left, but one of the more significant design features is the actual shape of the shirt – a fashionably curved base edged with blue material.
