Fumbling the Fly: March 2014

http://fumblingthefly.blogspot.com/2014_03_01_archive.html

Friday, March 21, 2014. On Saturday I fished a tributary of the Snake River with a friend. And a few of his friends. We did well, catching rainbow trout in beautiful scenery. It doesn't get much better than that! Wish I hadn't covered this fish with my fat fingers. It was really pretty and most likely the fish of the day. A fisher prowling the bank. Posted by Fumbling the Fly. Saturday, March 8, 2014. Sweet Vid from The Connecticut Yankee. Check out this video The Connecticut Yankee. The Basics of Dubbing.

Fumbling the Fly: Orvis Web Belts

http://fumblingthefly.blogspot.com/2014/05/orvis-web-belts.html

Monday, May 19, 2014. And they are just okay. But look at the awesome collars offered for dogs in trout prints. I'd much rather wear this print on my belt. I emailed Orvis and let them know how I feel and was told that my comments would be passed along to the Product Team. Hopefully that means soon I can be wearing a belt that even non-fisherman would recognize as a trout print versus one that looks like some sort of digitized camo. If you feel the same way, contact Orvis. And let them know how you feel.

Fumbling the Fly: December 2013

http://fumblingthefly.blogspot.com/2013_12_01_archive.html

Saturday, December 14, 2013. Aw shit, I've tried really hard all year to be good. Santa, I hope you can find me since I've changed addresses and been really bad at updating my blog. If you have any space on your sleigh, maybe you could find the time to drop me off a few things. I'd very much like to fish some off the beaten path places, you know, high country alpine lakes,. Small mountain streams,. So I can get "there" and back. I'd also really like a GoPro (is there something better? So I can record my.

Fly fishing and tying. Newer posts →. I joined another fly swap on paflyfish. And needed to pick a pattern to tie. The tricky part was that there was no real theme to the swap, so I could tie absolutely anything I wanted. This proved tougher than I had imagined. But I was able to combine a few techniques to tie something I thought would be appropriate for the cold weather which is now upon us. Hook: # 20 scud. Body: 8/0 UNI – Black. Wing: Grizzly tied in a para-loop. Brigantine/AC Salt – 12/4/11. The bea...

Fly fishing and tying. The blog has been collecting some dust recently, and I apologize for the lack of anything interesting to write about. To catch up, I’ve been focusing on musky fishing and fly tying. It started with a few big hooks. From there, I was able to find some decent materials , and I really got into tying these big flies. I even started experimenting with dying materials with cool aid and rit dye…. Until next time…. This entry was posted in Fly Fishing. Fly fishing for muskie. It was an unr...

Fly fishing and tying. Thankfully, the fish were looking up; and it didn’t take long for us to hook up. Ed testing out the fly rod. Ed’s brownie…the pics do not do this fish justice. Working a plunge pool…to no avail. Fish of the day…I think I caught this same brookie last year. And from an unrelated trip to an area lake yesterday, my only fish seemed to fit in with the little guy theme:. This entry was posted in Fly Fishing. Central Pa Trout Bum: Paying your dues

http://centralpatroutbum.blogspot.com/2013/06/paying-your-dues.html

Central Pa Trout Bum. Wednesday, June 12, 2013. If I were to guess the percentage of each trout species in my favorite river it would go as follows. Yellowstone Cutthroat and Hybrids-Approx. 90%. Rainbow Trout- Approx. 8%. Brown Trout- Approx 2%. The past two weeks I have been doing alot of grumbling to Zack and Brandon about how I feel that I have put in my time and payed my dues and I want a brown. I have had this feeling all of 2013 that this would be the year that it happens for me. Carp on the Fly.

Central Pa Trout Bum. Wednesday, October 31, 2012. With work and a relationship tugging at my ever diminishing free time, I haven't had much of a chance to get out fishing much. When I do, I go into beast mode and I am making so many casts, I feel like I am burning more calories than running on a treadmill. Yesterday, I was rewarded with a monster hybrid which also happened to break my largest trout ever caught record. Shout out to my buddy Chris. His Cutty Candy sure does catch them. As seen through the eyes of a bewildered and befuddled father. Tuesday, September 7, 2010. Ok, we thought it was a fluke that when Malaia was 15 months old she was able to climb out of her crib. And to be honest I'm not really sure if that was normal, but based on all of our friends children, not one other child was able to do that at such a young age. I say this now. Malaia is starting Gymnastics(for toddlers) next Wednesday. and Koa might not be too far behind! Tuesday, July 20, 2010. Give us a break.

Running commentary on my life.and life in general. I just read a book review and thought, if I got a review like that on something I wrote, I would have a heart attack.
