The Waiting Room: Clean Slate

http://fumblingthruchaos.blogspot.com/2015/05/clean-slate.html

This could take a while. Thursday, May 21, 2015. Posted by Seeking Solace. Husband and I ran a 5K last week. I finished in 37:50, which is a new personal best. We are training for another race in June, which includes working on our speed. And yes, my RA doc is still OK with the running. Junior is helping with the training.he's always up for joggies. I feel like the slate has been wiped clean. It's a second chance to enjoy the Summer of Seeking Solace. This time, I won't screw it up. Find-out where we went.

The Waiting Room: Slower than the speed of smell

http://fumblingthruchaos.blogspot.com/2015/04/slower-than-speed-of-smell.html

This could take a while. Tuesday, April 14, 2015. Slower than the speed of smell. Posted by Seeking Solace. There are so many things that I love about living in Elsewhere. Great weather, proximity to the beach and the mountains, well-known colleges and universities, and lots of things to see, do, and eat. But after living here for almost 6 years, there is one thing that I cannot get used to.If you want something done or get a response about something, it happens at the speed of smell. I am a college prof...

The Waiting Room: Perception and Pink Elephants

This could take a while. Thursday, April 02, 2015. Perception and Pink Elephants. Posted by Seeking Solace. He smiled and told me that the discussion was really not that. Bad and that my 4.0 and other work spoke volumes about the type of doc student I am. He went on to say that he wanted to talk to me about it, but he didn't want to get into the whole conflict of interest thing. I told him that I completely understood and appreciated his support. Well, alrighty then. Rather than what might be.

The Waiting Room: It's a sad, sad situation...

http://fumblingthruchaos.blogspot.com/2015/05/its-sad-sad-situation.html

This could take a while. Wednesday, May 13, 2015. It's a sad, sad situation. Posted by Seeking Solace. Long time readers of this blog may recall that I have not seen or talked to my brother since 2005. The Reader's Digest version is that because Husband and I acknowledge and have contact with his son that was the product of an extra-marital affair, we were ostracized. This also meant zero contact with my three nieces. My bother's wife is the architect of this banishment. It's sad, so sad. I am a college ...

The Waiting Room: Doing What Works

http://fumblingthruchaos.blogspot.com/2015/04/doing-what-works.html

This could take a while. Tuesday, April 07, 2015. Posted by Seeking Solace. After two months of trying ween off of my medication for depression/anxiety, My doctor and I concluded that the best course of action is to continue where I left off before trying to ween off. Although I was able to get through the brain zaps, which feel like static shocks, only inside your head, I just could not get enough of a serotonin. There is something to be said for recognizing what is working for a certain time in your li...

75% administration, 25% research… my life on the alt-ac track. August 30, 2011. So, my horrible paper that I have submitted to four journals finally got a revise and resubmit this time, hooray! The trouble is, it is a very big revision that they have requested. Fine, fine, I’ll do it, even though it is extremely painful. So I’m considering asking for an extension for the first time in my life. Anybody have any experience doing that? Should I ask now? August 9, 2011. Job Search in Academe,. 8221; Many of ...

75% administration, 25% research… my life on the alt-ac track. Larr; Advanced faculty wrangling techniques. September 16, 2011. I understand and accept the usefulness of email “away” messages. But I must admit it drives me crazy when someone emails me, and I hit “reply” and send a prompt response, only to get their “away” message in return. When the away message says “I will return on September 9 and respond to your email as soon as possible”… and it’s September 15. September 19, 2011 at 11:29 am. Into t...

Psych Post Doc: September 2009

http://psychpostdoc.blogspot.com/2009_09_01_archive.html

Musings from a former Psychology Post Doc making her way through a non-academic research job for now. Wednesday, September 23, 2009. I've had a hard time adjusting since I got back from the West Coasts so I took a mental health day today. Had a massage (for the first time in 5 months: and made another appt. Sushi for lunch with my sister. Extravagant Pedicure (also with my sister). Caught up on our household bills (feels good to have that under control). Had dinner out with hubby. Links to this post.

Musings from a former Psychology Post Doc making her way through a non-academic research job for now. Sunday, February 7, 2010. That I was experiencing agonizing back pain. It turns out my tail bone is out, as in shifted so that the left side is out a little more than the right side and that leads to inflammation and serious pain. Ok, I'm off to do some of my exercises and ice my back. Links to this post. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). And baby makes 3. New blog new me. Too old to party.

75% administration, 25% research… my life on the alt-ac track. Larr; Deluxe apartment in the sky. Advanced faculty wrangling techniques. September 23, 2011. Getting a group of faculty members together to accomplish something has often been compared to herding cats. I disagree. When I want to get my cats all into one room to do something at the same time, all I have to do is stand in my kitchen, open a can of Friskies, and yell “Num nums! Cats, neatly lined up. Completely unlike faculty. You will still ne...

Musings from a former Psychology Post Doc making her way through a non-academic research job for now. Friday, January 29, 2010. RBOC quick check in edition. An up date on my last post; I now have a temporary crown on my tooth and am pretty much pain free. My back is better, physical therapy made a huge difference and I'm traveling right now so I haven't been able to be vigilant about my exercises but I'm doing my best and will be much better when I get home. Musings from a former Psychology Post Doc making her way through a non-academic research job for now. Sunday, October 25, 2009. Because you're exact words were "I should not have expected you to do this given that you did not know how.". These rewriting of realities are driving me crazy. They're diminishing my motivation and lowering my moral. But when you're dealing with someone who is overly sensitive, insecure and passive aggressive what the hell do you do? Besides fester in frustration that is? Tomor...

I'm so not ready or willing for this trip.but it is going to happen anyway. At least the paper I'm presenting is done.still need to make a flashy powerpoint to show of my less than stellar findings. living with RA: April 2011

http://livingwithra-nan.blogspot.com/2011_04_01_archive.html

My blog is a place for me to share my "RA story" and experiences including how I manage Rheumatoid Arthritis on a broad basis and day to day with the realities of a progressive, chronic disease. Most importantly how to do it successfully and with a positive attitude. Friday, April 29, 2011. OK I have RA, now what? OK, so finally I found out I "officially" have RA and although there is sense of relief I want to know what does Rheumatoid Arthritis mean? Remember to laugh today and to hug someone you love!

Here are my preschooler’s tray activities from our tree unit. I didn’t get too many action pictures this time. We’ve been busy trying to finish up our homeschool year strong. Therapy Sucks | my journey of fumbling through therapy.

My journey of fumbling through therapy. August 16, 2015. August 16, 2015. It would seem that the therapist and I arrive at a similar therapeutic impasse. Time and time again. I find that. Frustrating, but I’m also trying to imagine how I can use this particular experience to learn more about myself and grow. That is basically the whole point of being in psychotherapy anyway, yeah? For the most part, I know (rationally) that she is doing this for a good reason, which is likely because these thought patter...

Fumbling Through Fifth Grade

Fumbling Through Fifth Grade. Saturday, June 28, 2014. Hello again, all. If you read my latest update, you know that I am embarking on a brand new adventure as a teacher of fifth grade math and science. While I have truly loved being self-contained for the last two-and-a-half years. I am incredibly excited to teach my two favorite subjects exclusively! fumblingthrulife | Just another WordPress.com site

Just another WordPress.com site. July 19, 2011. For the last 7 months, I had been the proud owner of the Lululemon Hustle Jacket in a gray plaid color with tiny pinstripes of purple. I wore that sucker like it was the only coat in my closet. It’s basically a rainproof windbreaker that’s perfect for crappy Seattle summers (and years) like this one. And now it’s gone. One word to the coat-taker: Karma. If I see you brazenly wearing my favorite coat out and about, I will confront you. I will question yo...

Fumbling Toward Adulthood | Tales of an accidental Australian housewife

Tales of an accidental Australian housewife. Insert Wrap Pun Here. January 31, 2015. There are so many terrible wrap puns that ran through my mind when I went to title this blog post. I’ll spare you all. How about if it’s offered for VTFTO? In these communities, I always note how little the exchange of the item often has to do with its purported purpose in this case, y’know,. I totally get it, too. Does my son care if I have twelve wraps to wear him in instead of three, or even one? January 11, 2015.
