Built in 1926 Route 66 crossed more than 2,400 miles through eight states. Now Route 66 connects its travelers to the past. Those that travel the famous road can catch a glimpse of the culture and history it once celebrated. In the mid 1800s, Isaac Funk gave about 6 miles of right of way to the railroad.

Chapel in the Trees. Setting of many outdoor weddings, this sanctuary in the woods was inspired by the Reverend Loyal Morris Thompson. The chapel was developed with the help of the Funk and Stubblefield families. The pews are logs made of American Red Elm, and the pulpit is a tree stump. The path to the Chapel in the trees is located across the road from the picnic shelter. Chapel of the Templed Trees. O the sweep of the living pillars. In my chapel of Templed trees-.
