Humans Aren't Rational: Solar energy, heat pumps, and other renewable energy sources that can be misleading
http://humansarentrational.blogspot.com/2010/09/solar-energy-heat-pumps-and-other.html
Wednesday, September 29, 2010. Solar energy, heat pumps, and other renewable energy sources that can be misleading. For many years, I've assumed I was going to get solar panels when I had a house, because I assumed they not only save the environment but save money in the long run. However, after doing some calculations, it turns out this may not be the case. September 29, 2010 at 6:21 AM. November 12, 2010 at 4:53 PM. That sounds neat. Unfortunately, I dont know how to get ahold of any of those parts...

God Thoughs - Kruszer's Journal
http://kruszer.livejournal.com/292021.html
God Thoughs - Kruszers Journal. May 21st, 2010. See, if God exists, then I am angry and must ask:. Why are you hurting me so much? Why do you help and bless most others around me, while constantly heaping/allowing more pain on my shoulders when I'm already so wounded. Because of childhood/teen head injuries I easily acquire an average of 1 to 2 concussions a month from even minor bumps and jolts. My neurologist wasn't much help beyond stay away from risky activity. (Dancing isn't football for cry...If Go...

Humans Aren't Rational: March 2010
http://humansarentrational.blogspot.com/2010_03_01_archive.html
Saturday, March 27, 2010. The Pros and Cons of Open Source Software. Many people wonder why people like me spend so much time and effort configuring Linux. I used to have a Macbook, which worked pretty well, ran all the programs I needed, and required little maintenance, but I sold it and use Linux almost exclusively again. A naive question would be: aren't the days of my time I spend dealing with problems in Linux worth more than the comparatively small cost of the Macbook? Thursday, March 11, 2010.

Humans Aren't Rational: Pets, and the futility of trying to make a difference
http://humansarentrational.blogspot.com/2010/08/pets-and-futility-of-trying-to-make.html
Tuesday, August 17, 2010. Pets, and the futility of trying to make a difference. I think the thing that's been making me most sad / angry / frustrated with humans in the long term is the keeping of pets. I consider the captivity of animals to be one of the greatest evils of civilization, and can't understand why the overwhelming majority don't think twice about its morality. But what about the many, many people who believe animals do. Have feelings, yet have no qualms keeping them as pets? You'll of cour...

Humans Aren't Rational: Surpassing Quicksilver
http://humansarentrational.blogspot.com/2010/03/surpassing-quicksilver.html
Thursday, March 11, 2010. A few weeks ago, I was looking at the list of programs running on my computer, and contemplating the memory they were using (when I had no apps open) and the percentage of them whose purpose I actually understood. I then decided I'd had enough. So I ditched Ubuntu. And set it up to run plain X windows with just a window manager. (I'm overjoyed with the results.). One program I used to use was Gnome-Do. A somewhat weak clone of the excellent Quicksilver. View my complete profile.

By the way, humans frequently make the mistake of mistaking an indirect. Or take pollution as another example - regardless of whether the world is going to end soon because of pollution, a person's individual pollution still kills a fraction of a person (yes, people are dying now. Rather, we should understand the entire syste...

Humans Aren't Rational: December 2009

Saturday, December 26, 2009. How to block the Wikipedia banner. Wikipedia has recently gotten a large, annoying banner at the top asking for donations. This is sad, but it can be blocked by getting AdBlockPlus. And adding the following filter rule to it:. There might be a better way to do it, but that's the only one I've found that works for me.
