Bringing her back to glory. No, it doesn’t get boring…. As we enter April, and the cooler weather is upon us, we have completed the majority of work up on deck, and we have now moved down below! Maria restoring the steering wheel. Prior to painting the teak, it gets a clean with a pressure hose and oxalic acid. After some repair work and sanding, a coat of primer is applied to the deck. Bringing her back to glory. A week of berthing and birthing. After approximately the same amount of time, that of 40 weeks, they were both ready. One ready for berthing……the other ready for birthing! The crane moves into place, ready to lift Gai Charisma. Once the boat was lifted, a quick coat of anti-foul paint was applied to the sites that were previously covered by the boat stand. Bringing her back to glory. We are in the process of buying a pirate ship! Well not quite, it s a Formosa 51. We’re either incredibly smart or incredibly stupid – time will tell! Once we get a few things checked out by a mechanic, rigger and surveyor, we’ll decide whether to take the plunge. If we go ahead, there is a catch. The boat s in Cairns, and we live in Melbourne!
