This is an area in Sand, on the Westside of the Shetland Isles, which is being transformed from grazing and hill land into an area of extensive gardens and woodlands. Da Gairdins i Sand, Shetland. Shetland Easy to Reach but Remote Enough to be Different. As can be seen from the globe, Shetland lies at the centre of a Scandinavian Wheel , almost equidistant from the Faroe Islands to the north-west, Bergen in Norway to the east and Aberdeen in Scotland to the south-west. 44 (0)1806 522 777. From Lerwick, head North on the main A970 towards Hillswick, after around 22 miles you will pass through Brae, continue on the main road towards Hillswick. When you pass over the Muckle Roe bridge keep left onto the main road at the first bend. Orwick Lodge is 1 mile after the bridge on the right hand side. Muckle Roe is a great place to explore: There are a number of walks around the island and you have free access, just close any gates that you open, and take care near the cliffs.
