Sunday, 31 July 2011. Turkey - Return to Istanbul - Day 371(26,660 miles). After 32 days and just over 3000 miles (4800 km) we arrived back in Istanbul, neither of us expected to cover so much ground but Turkey is a big old country and there is still alot for us to come back and explore another time. A welcome back cake from the club members, suitably served on top of a map of Turkey! Metmin, Tatiana and Yasmin and a selection of biscuits (to go with the cake! A joy to visit on a hot day is the Basilica ...

Monday, 24 January 2011. Thailand - The Mai Hong Son Loop Day 183 (16,892 miles). We escaped the comfort and ease of Chiang Mai, the daily yoga classes, Boots the chemist, everyone understanding English and headed south west. The Mai Hong Son loop is a favourite amongst motorcyclists for great twisty, hilly roads and pretty countryside within easy reach of Chiang Mai. Wat Chong Kahm temple below was across the lake from our guesthouse. We spent sometime at the local moped mechanics while John tried to ge...

And its most famous town, San Pedro de Atacama, could easily be retitled to 'San Polvo de Atacama' as the place really is fairly dusty. I don't think that 'normal' pictures do this amazing place justice, so I decided to upload quite a number of panoramas to the panorama section (Gallery 3), which you can see here. Hope you like the images. Reading: Atacama Desert Panoramas.

I had been looking forward to coming back to Nepal ever since my first visit to this beautiful country over 10 years ago. And after this second visit, for some strange reason it now feels a bit like a second home. A 5-hour ride on the gorgeous ‘Siddharta Highway’ took me to Pokhara, a relaxed little lakeside-town I had already visited back in 1998. Shipping the bike was really straight-forward, and Eagle Eyes...

Here's a little episode of what was one of the worst weeks I've had in a very long time. OK", I thought, "when in Rome. do what the Romans do". So, the next morning I followed Juan's advised route. (Salta, R40, R38,.) Big mistake! After a long day without food, about 30 minutes before sunset, I finally left Argentina fo...

I’ve got to say it was the most delicious meal I’d had in a very long time: at least 6-7 courses of local specialities, accompanied by various kinds of tea in different flavours. I’ve uploaded some more photos into a separate China Album. On FlickR, including a brief write-up underneath the photographs. (Here's the same album as a slideshow. A few sample images:.

Subscribe in a reader. 50 countries, 1226 days, trip mileage: 124200 km. After nearly 3 1/2 years on the road, I'm finally back home with my parents – something I had been looking forward to for quite some time now. The last few days in New York were pretty hectic – but also very enjoyable, thanks to my lovely hosts Eusebio and Natalie in New Jersey. Time flew past with New York sightseeing during the day, re-packing and preparing the motorcycle for shipping. Hope you like them. Post Link to Twitter.

Before Vic and Stew headed back home from Adelaide we visited Bjoern and Sigrid who bought Stew’s last bike (a Suzuki DR650) in preparation for their own ‘Big Trip’ planned for 2012. John and I ended up staying with them for 3 days! They are lovely people who made us feel incredibly welcome. Sigrid, Bjoern and us at their local Thai restaurant (very nice! Auburn was a quaint little place we stopped for a bum break. The ne...
