What Kind of Flower Are You? Enter to Win a Free Urban Composter. March 4, 2008. One of the coolest things about being a garden blogger is that I get free stuff. Which sometimes doesn’t seem quite right. I get free stuff just for fretting and philosophizing about plants online. When did the world get that cool? The Scottish part of me is just in free heaven. Sometimes, I get free stuff and I like it. Sometimes, I get free stuff. So, I have set up an entry form and you can go here to sign up. For a chance...

¡Ay Chihuahua!: Mulch madness
http://chihuahuagarden.blogspot.com/2008/03/mulch-madness.html
Garden journal of a greenhorn gringo in the Chihuahuan desert. Saturday, March 29, 2008. Casa Congilio has the post I've been meaning to write on gravel mulch. Only with better writing and photos. Gravel mulch: I like to use stepping stone types of rocks vs. pebbles. Free and plentiful in the Rocky Mtns, maybe not in your area. Because they're flat, debris blows right off them. Plus, tiny indentations in the stones collect water for butterflies. Hmmmm a case of false advertising? Other Desert Garden Blogs.

The personal blog of lynn bernardi -. May 30, 2014 -. Yard Work in Progress. This is what happens when you buy a house that had an unkept yard to begin with, and then you ignore it for another 7 years. I bought my house in 2007. The first time I looked at it, it was winter, and while it checked off just about every box on my “must haves” list, it was also out of my price range, so I didn’t get excited. It’s easy to post photos of pretty things, but it makes me uncomfortable posting these “bef...When it f...

The personal blog of lynn bernardi -. Jul 30, 2014 -. I got tired of getting whacked in the face with brush/overgrown bushes/random small trees when cutting the lawn, so I decided to do some “light weeding”. Twenty minutes of cutting produced this prodigious pile of crap. Wait, it looks like I hardly removed anything. Let’s take a closer look…. So in the meantime, I’m just hacking away at it bit by bit and hoping inspiration strikes. Jul 10, 2014 -. Making Vertical Planters, Part 1. Jul 9, 2014 -.

The personal blog of lynn bernardi -. Jul 10, 2014 -. Making Vertical Planters, Part 1. Can you guess what this is about to become? For awhile, I have been admiring the vertical gardens people have been posting in the Succulent Fanatics. Facebook group. Last week, I came across this blog post. LYNN: We need leaf bags, we should go to Lowes. It’s gotten to the point that I furtively sneak trips to Lowes like a junky hides their stash. So imagine my awe when he asked me (ME! If I want to go to Home Depot!

The personal blog of lynn bernardi -. Apr 12, 2014 -. Buying Agaves on eBay. First post with new blog template! I deleted all my old entries and am starting over fresh.). The spines can be REALLY sharp and I’ve stabbed myself more times than I like to count. Re-potting them requires a healthy dose of courage and heavy gloves. But for whatever reason, I am really drawn to them. I think it has to do with their clean lines and architectural nature. A Trip to Telly’s. Succulent Tools & Potting Tips. 8220;nee...

The personal blog of lynn bernardi -. Writing bios always feels awkward. So here’s some random facts. I’m in my mid 30′s and I live in the metro-Detroit area with my boyfriend of several years, my dog and two cats. Generally, we all get along. I’ve been working as a photographer since 2007, but I also have a boring, unsatisfying day job to help pay the bills. I have way too many hobbies and interests and not enough time to explore them all. (See above.). On Yard Work in Progress. Loree / danger garden.
