The Gardener of Good and Evil

The Gardener of Good and Evil. Friday, April 16, 2010. Bloom Day, April 2010. I'm alive, and so is my garden! In fact, I can safely say that my garden has never looked so good. After the last two years of drought, it amazes me how quickly everything filled in and bounced back. Even the roses are covered in flowers despite the fact that I barely fertilized and completely missed the window to cut everything back properly. Here's rose "Gruss an Aachen" tempting me to take up watercolor painting again:.

The Gardener of Good and Evil: February 2009

http://gardenerofgoodandevil.blogspot.com/2009_02_01_archive.html

The Gardener of Good and Evil. Sunday, February 15, 2009. Garden Blogger's Bloom Day - February. Due to the lack of flowers, foliage has been keeping things interesting. Here are a few leaves of the Tropicana canna, which I've been covering during freezes since I planted it so late in the fall. I had green and yellow variagated Pretoria cannas right next to the Tropicana, but alas, the ROUS ate them in the dead of night. Every year, I plant some blue pansies. These are this year's selection. The first bl...

The Gardener of Good and Evil: May 2009

http://gardenerofgoodandevil.blogspot.com/2009_05_01_archive.html

The Gardener of Good and Evil. Thursday, May 21, 2009. I've long-admired the dramatic placement of this agave in front of a house in my neighborhood.  Sometime this winter, it sent out a bloom stalk that seems to be trying its best to imitate the vine in Jack and the Beanstalk.  It's now over two stories tall. When those flowers open, it's gonna be legendary. Links to this post. Thursday, May 14, 2009. Gardens on Tour 2009: Rockcliff Road. Insert another laudatory adjective here:. The Gardener of Good and Evil: April 2009

http://gardenerofgoodandevil.blogspot.com/2009_04_01_archive.html

The Gardener of Good and Evil. Wednesday, April 22, 2009. So, on Monday, first of all, we have my twobonnets, the twin results of many, many bluebonnet seeds strewn throughout the yard.  I'm hoping that the lack of germination is directly related to the drought, and hope that maybe there'll be more of a show next year. Gruss an Aachen, guaranteed for flower porn. See all those subtle shadings of color? Belinda's Dream is in full bloom, too. This is another rose I have a hard time photographing from c...

The Gardener of Good and Evil: my milkshake datura brings all the boys bees to the yard

http://gardenerofgoodandevil.blogspot.com/2009/10/my-milkshake-datura-brings-all-boys.html

The Gardener of Good and Evil. Monday, October 26, 2009. Datura brings all the. Bees to the yard. So while I haven't been actively blogging for months- aside from complaining about the drought and heat on Twitter- I have been taking pictures of the interesting things that have been happening around my yard. For instance, I knew that the datura in my yard was a favorite plant of bees and moths and other insects, but a certain morning back in August was like stumbling into a bee bacchanal:. Hello, I'm a tr...

The Gardener of Good and Evil: January 2009

http://gardenerofgoodandevil.blogspot.com/2009_01_01_archive.html

The Gardener of Good and Evil. Friday, January 23, 2009. Living up to its reputation, Ziva is gorgeous and easy to grow.  While the other narcissus varieties I planted have taken their sweet time deciding whether they want to deal with Texas, Ziva's green leaves practically leapt from the soil. But, good god, once they sprung into flower, they smelled like ass! Now that cedar season has hit, I can't smell a damn thing, and thankfully, that that includes Ziva's fresh dairy air. Something About Blooming and Butterflies: June 2006

http://vivesgarden.blogspot.com/2006_06_01_archive.html

Something About Blooming and Butterflies. All work and no play? Not in the springtime! Tuesday, June 13, 2006. Chris offers a cornucopia via photo. On his first night back, he and Annabella ate pizza from the freezer and veggies from the garden. There are record temps at home, so everything is crispy and already I'm hearing how arduous it is to water everyday. And yet he persists. Posted by Vivé at 9:45 PM. Monday, June 05, 2006. Gardener of Light

Sunday, June 5, 2016. Waiting for the storm. Well, its been almost eleven months since I last posted on this blog. Once again time has slipped away as if it were caught up in a raging river! Many things found their way into those chaotic waters. some literally torn from my grasp. I find myself exhausted and a bit numb. So I've decided that it would be very therapeutic to return to my blogs, even if its just to post photos. Sooooo. I'm back! Things can change in an instant! Like everything else in life.

Gardener of the Hill

Gardener of the Hill. Sunday, July 5, 2015. Happy Fourth of July! I took these at our town's annual Fourth of July fireworks yesterday. This year's celebration was special because it is the 150th anniversary. Anniversary of what, you may say? Things Morgan wonders. . . . Monday, February 16, 2015. Recipe Brownie Chocolate Chip Cheesecake. As I promised, here is the recipe for, in my opinion, one of the best cheesecakes ever. :). Brownie Chocolate Chip Cheesecake. 3 (8oz) packages cream cheese, softened.
