gardening for groceries

as professional chefs, it is only natural for us to have an interest in gardening, so much of our work involves fresh fruits, vegetables and herbs. it shouldn't surprise anyone that we have a large garden. with all of the hybrid and heirloom plants available, there are a lot of things to try and grow. to attempt growing so many things in one yard is crazy. welcome to our garden, a place where insanity rules and we love it.

gardening for groceries: May 2014

http://gardeningforgroceries.blogspot.com/2014_05_01_archive.html

Tuesday, May 20, 2014. Yes it has been a while since i have posted anything here! Truth is, i post most things on my other blog, easier than pie. keeping multiple blog pages is more work than i have time for-especially with all that a garden and a full time job can demand on a person. to keep it simple and so that it all makes sense, gardening topics seem out of place on a baking blog, i have created a new blog! Please visit my new page, will garden for cake. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).

gardening for groceries: summer update

http://gardeningforgroceries.blogspot.com/2011/07/summer-update.html

Sunday, July 24, 2011. It's been a while since i have put anything up here and a friend recently asked my what was going on in my garden-she actually told me that i hadn't put any pictures up in a while.well dar, these are for you! My cukes grow on a sheet of plastic lattice work bent to form a tent and is held in place with metal stakes. underneath, the soil remains cool and i now have lettuce growing-a major miracle in the south! Monday, July 5, 2010. What bee happening in the garden. It's best not to go into the hive frequently unless there are problems or illnesses to take care of. we haven't gone into the hive in a few weeks to look around, we do open the top to feed them 2-3 times a week but that is about it. today we decided to do a hive inspection and check on the progress of our girls. boy have they been busy! In the top corners of the frame, the whitish cells are capped honey. the dark open cells are most likely polle...

Will travel for food. Monday, April 20, 2009. The tastes of home. It was cut, you could fold your slice in half and walk home while eating it.  bagels were chewy and there really weren't many flavors to choose from, plain, sesame, poppy, egg or onion being the most likely ones available.  i get hungry just thinking about all of this, i also long for home and my family.  . First up was a trip to noshville. For years we had heard about pizza perfect. Before we moved here, we were in the san francisco bay a...

Discovering in our home garden, the health benefits and pure joy of growing our own fresh organic vegetables, and stopping to smell our own beautiful roses. Thursday, December 20, 2007. I am always interested and amazed by what other gardeners are doing, hoping that I can pick up a few new tricks and ideas to use in my own garden. Gardening for Janet

Monday, July 20, 2015. And there we have it. On June 11, I had started a new post entitled "Managing the Inevitable." In it, I updated Janet's recent and abrupt change and decline in Alzheimer's symptoms. She had become combative, would refuse food and medicine (but could usually be cajoled into them). She was packing her stuff in a very haphazard disorganized fashion because her nephew (she believed) was coming to take her to her sister's. And that's nothing compared to my husband and his sister's pain.
