Flowering Tobacco, Jasmine Tobacco. Synonym: Nicotiana affinis, Nicotiana persica. All zones as summer annual. Full sun to part shade. Northeastern Argentina to southern Brazil. Rosette forming tender perennial generally grown as half-hardy annual, 18 inches to 3 feet (45-90 cm) depending on variety, 12 inches spread (30 cm). 1-7,14-17,34,36-45. Hardy to -15 F (-26 C). Winter and spring annuals in Phoenix. Hybrids with Lupinus polyphyllus and Lupinus arboreus in their parentage. Clump forming perennial, up to 4 feet tall (1.2 m) or smaller depending on variety, dwarf varieties are 18 inches tall (45 cm). Regular water, does better with moist soil. Seeds, self-seed, but new plants won't look like parents, basal cuttings in spring. Lupines attract butterflies. The blossom of the lupines are great for cut flowers.

Annual in all zones, perennial in 15-24. Frost tender in Phoenix, protect it on cold nights, or use it as an annual. Light shade in Phoenix. Tender perennial up to 1 foot tall for dwarf types (30 cm), 5 feet for the climbing varieties (1.5m). Seeds sown in place. Nasturniums are easy to grow and make a showy display, with flowers from red to white, and orange to yellow. Young leaves, buds and flowers are edible.
