Birds, Bees, Flowers and Trees…. Wildlife Over the Garden Wall. GBBD – June Flowers for Bees and other Pollinators. June 17, 2015. June 19, 2015. I rarely post photos of my own garden. I work as a gardener, which means our garden at home takes second fiddle and often has the look of cobbler’s shoes but I do try to grow as many plants that have wildlife value as possible. This is my first time of joining in with Carol at May Dreams Gardens for GBBD. I am a little late, apologies! Early Morning when the Op...

Birds, Bees, Flowers and Trees…. Wildlife Over the Garden Wall. Villa d’Este Tivoli Italy. June 19, 2013. June 19, 2013. On our last day in Italy, we visited Tivoli and the gardens of Villa ‘d’Este now designated as a world heritage site and acknowledged as having a profound influence on the development of garden design throughout Europe. When we left we asked when the fountains would be flowing again, they were not sure for certain, maybe tomorrow, maybe the day after. Garden and Show visits. I am so so...

Italian Wildflowers – Capparis spinosa | Gardening Jules

https://gardeningjules.wordpress.com/2013/05/31/italian-wildflowers-capparis-spinosa

Birds, Bees, Flowers and Trees…. Wildlife Over the Garden Wall. Italian Wildflowers – Capparis spinosa. May 31, 2013. July 23, 2013. We are on holiday in Amalfi and its pouring, so had been fruitlessly searching through Italian wildflower sites to help identify the plants we have been lucky to see in between showers. Having driven my husband mad with obsessive searching, both he and I were delighted to find the answer on Christina’s blog ‘Creating My Own Garden of the Hesperides’. May 31, 2013 at 8:20 pm.

Notes on a Garden: March 2013

http://notesonagarden-karin.blogspot.com/2013_03_01_archive.html

Notes on a Garden. Gardening with nature in mind. Books I've Found Useful. Spring in the Garden. Monday, 11 March 2013. We decided to buy a couple more chickens last weekend as we're only getting one good egg from our other two at the moment. Fudge hardly ever lays an egg with a decent shell, so it is being eaten before we can get to it. There were lots of chickens to choose from:. Here are the two we chose, Bilbo and Frodo - yes, I know Bilbo and Frodo Baggins are male, but hobbits aren't human. That da...

taking the slow road – Life in Mud Spattered Boots

https://annewheaton.co.uk/2015/04/29/walking-west-highland-way

Life in Mud Spattered Boots. Taking the slow road. April 29, 2015. May 15, 2015. Sometimes the path was broad. Sometimes we had to scramble up a few rocks. But wherever we walked, the views were amazing and very different from home. Somehow, walking makes me feel part of the landscape as opposed to driving, when everything flashes by and I feel I’m just watching it. There are some brief walking notes here. Should you be thinking about making this walk. Posted in: On the Farm. Walking West Highland Way.

Notes on a Garden: Adding a Splash of Spring Colour

http://notesonagarden-karin.blogspot.com/2011/02/adding-splash-of-spring-colour.html

Notes on a Garden. Gardening with nature in mind. Books I've Found Useful. Spring in the Garden. Thursday, 24 February 2011. Adding a Splash of Spring Colour. What a lovely day it was today; quite Spring-like. I had a thin jumper on, but didn't need a coat. The birds were singing and calling out to each other and for a while I was serenaded by a dunnock. He was quite close, but annoyingly I didn't have my camera to hand. The bed on the other side of the path has colour, but needs a good tidy up. I look f...

Notes on a Garden: The last of my Spring cabbages

http://notesonagarden-karin.blogspot.com/2009/06/last-of-my-spring-cabbages.html

Notes on a Garden. Gardening with nature in mind. Books I've Found Useful. Spring in the Garden. Sunday, 21 June 2009. The last of my Spring cabbages. Things are growing quite well in the garden at the moment. I just harvested the last of my pointed cabbages, which had been attacked a bit by a couple of slugs and some tiny green maggoty things. However, this was the worst one, most of the others only showed slug and snail damage on the outer leaves, which we don't eat. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).

Hadrian’s Wall Path 2014. March 1, 2015. April 1, 2015. In 1801 William Hutton walked from his home in Birmingham to Carlisle; continued walking along the length of Hadrian’s Wall and then walked home again – a distance of 600 miles. He was 78. In his book,. The History of the Roman Wall,. William Hutton is generally credited as the first person of modern times to walk the “Bulwark” … but happily he was wrong about being the last to do so. Looking Forward – Grey Tabby Gardens

https://greytabbygardens.com/2016/01/31/looking-forward

Growing Flowers in Central Florida. January 31, 2016. September 25, 2016. As we were close to a frost twice this week, they suddenly all decided to drop their leaves and the lawn now looks very autumnal! I have really been loving the Hyacinths. Even before they are fully up and open they are so pretty. I heven tucked a few into a few little mercury glasses. Even just one gives of such a powerful fragrance. I have added some silver birch twigs into the pots too because Tulips tend to get a bit floppy....

https://greytabbygardens.com/2016/02/20/splashes-of-color

Growing Flowers in Central Florida. February 20, 2016. September 25, 2016. Our rather upside down winter and early spring have contributed to some unexpected color combinations in the garden this week. I’m not sure if I should be embarrassed by them or if I should just enjoy them while they last! Even the cardinals are adding pops of color amongst the flowers. Bees are everywhere enjoying the new flowers…. On the Mystic Spires Salvia…. The container plants…. I enjoyed two big sprays from La Marne rose in...
