Gardening Under The Influence: This Means War.....

http://gardeningundertheinfluence.blogspot.com/2012/08/this-means-war.html

Friday, August 24, 2012. This Heron has no idea who he is dealing with. I have previously spent a summer dealing with a family of groundhogs, who turned my garden into their personal ‘all you can eat’ buffet bar, so there is no way I’m letting this bird stake a claim on my pond. Let the battle begin. Gardening Under The Influence. August 24, 2012 at 6:15 PM. How are you going to win? If it were me against the bird, Id be out of luck! Janet, The Queen of Seaford. Gardening Under The Influence: Not Feeling The Muskrat Love

http://gardeningundertheinfluence.blogspot.com/2012/12/not-feeling-muskrat-love.html

Thursday, December 13, 2012. Not Feeling The Muskrat Love. Many years ago, The Captain and Tennille singing duo, had a hit song called ‘Muskrat Love’. They sang about a pair of muskrats twirling and doing a tango and jitterbugging in muskrat land. I hated that song then and even more so today! A muskrat had decided the pond was a perfect place to call home and proceeded to dig through the liner and create a burrow with several entrances. This is a disaster, and I thought groundhogs were bad. It is trappi...

Gardening Under The Influence: October 2012

http://gardeningundertheinfluence.blogspot.com/2012_10_01_archive.html

Wednesday, October 3, 2012. Don't Judge A Plant By Its Name. Tricyrtis hirta is a wonderful perennial with an exotic, orchid looking flower which goes by the common name, Toad Lily. Such an unfortunate name, for such a beautiful plant. The spotting on the petals which attribute to the amphibian name. The clumps will grow in size each season and can be divided after three to four years. I plant mine among my hostas, and appreciate the unique blooms as the rest of my garden. Gardening Under The Influence: December 2012

http://gardeningundertheinfluence.blogspot.com/2012_12_01_archive.html

Friday, December 21, 2012. Catch You At The Rapture. If you are reading this, chances are that we will all survive another near-death experience when it comes to world ending events. Mankind has managed to evade the Rapture hundreds of times, with some of these predicted events predating the birth of Christ. So why think the Mayan’s are any better at predicting the end of the world then these other geniuses. Gardening Under The Influence. Thursday, December 13, 2012. Not Feeling The Muskrat Love. In Which an Award is Presented To a Plant from the Carboniferous Period. February 25, 2012 · 4:10 pm. Whiskey Sours, Camelia Japonica Platinum, and iPads for everyone. I’ve taken a long hiatus from blogging on Visionary Gleam, a fact that has been noticed by all twelve of my regular readers, who have been struggling to find meaning in their lives without the wit and wisdom of the zen master of incompetent gardening. I may miss some of the red carpet stuff, as a dinner will keep me out until 8:30 or so (I...

Gardening Under the Southern Cross

Gardening Under the Southern Cross. The trials and tribulations of one Aussie gardener's adaptation to the changing climate. Sunday, October 7, 2012. Longer days, warmer weather, gentle sunshine – what’s not to like about spring? The occasional blasts from the Antarctic to remind us that we live near Melbourne no doubt. And the wind. Ahhhhh the wind! Monday, July 9, 2012. In late June in a last burst of vibrant colour in the garden I was gobsmacked at the energetic display being put on by two contrasting...

Gardening Upstream

With the generous help of my grandma, I am spending this spring and summer learning how to garden. By plunging in headfirst. This blog is a narrative of my adventures. Friday, August 3, 2012. As usual, I came home from Grandma's with more peppers than I need, and a handful of cherry tomatoes, although for some reason the big tomatoes are ripening slowly. I also found two ripe eggplants. And I remembered there were some carrots that were too little a few weeks ago, so I dug them up today. I walked home fr...
