GARDENISTA: February 2010
http://gardenista.blogspot.com/2010_02_01_archive.html
Not always fun, but plenty of sun. Monday, February 8, 2010. On the Upcoming Occasion of Valentine's Day, An Open Mash Note to My Garden. Oh garden mine, do you really know how much I love you? Let me count the ways. I love you for your patterns. For your sounds and shapes and structures. I love you for your flowers. And for your constant encouragement to look out the windows and get out of doors. Labels: A Valentine to my Garden. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Rollingwood, Central Texas. Soul of the Garden.

Not always fun, but plenty of sun. Monday, October 24, 2011. There are days when posting makes sense. Then there are the days when there is so much to do before cooler weather is here to stay that sitting at a computer just isn't in the cards. I am off to get started. Bye for now! Friday, October 21, 2011. Wishes for Your Weekend. Thursday, October 20, 2011. Trio of hanging Pomegranate blossoms. House Wrens are nesting here in the palm fibers. Salvia basking in the sun. Wednesday, October 19, 2011. Doesn...

Not always fun, but plenty of sun. Wednesday, January 25, 2012. Well HELLO Zone 9A! I don't know about you, but with the new hardiness zone map issued recently, I am apparently a half-zone warmer than previously extrapolated. Seriously, I'd been feeling the shift all along but thought it was mostly a lack of hormones. Are your extreme minimum temperatures higher than previously projected? This could mean some expensive errors at the nursery for ahem! Monday, January 23, 2012. Labels: Chinese New Year.
GARDENISTA: Transplantation - The Move to Austin Agrodolce
http://gardenista.blogspot.com/2012/05/transplantation.html
Not always fun, but plenty of sun. Friday, May 11, 2012. Transplantation - The Move to Austin Agrodolce. For a long time I put all my garden posts here at Gardenista. In between garden posts, I'd toss off my gloves and put aside my trowel long enough to post about food and fun and recipes and everything else over at Austin Agrodolce. Eventually it all got to be too much - the split nature of posting on both blogs - so I am hereby folding Gardenista into Austin Agrodolce. Ready, set, FOLD.
GARDENISTA: March 2010
http://gardenista.blogspot.com/2010_03_01_archive.html
Not always fun, but plenty of sun. Friday, March 12, 2010. Down but not out. Do you live in Central Texas? Then by all means please take a look at any live oak tree close to you. If you live here, there will doubtless be many to choose from. Go ahead, I'll wait. Watch for longer than 30 seconds and I guarantee you're seeing leaves dropping to the ground like sand in an hourglass. Central Texas will be coated with pollen just as surely as if Emeril himself had been seasoning our world. I'm just saying (OK...

Welcome Aboard. — Nutrivore - A blog about ancestral health and functional fitness

Nutrivore - A blog about ancestral health and functional fitness. Bits and bites from the ancestral cache. We’re Jai and Bee. If you’ve come over from Jugalbandi. You’ve met us already. If you’re new here, let’s cut to the chase. We are Americans who grew up in India. We’re deeply interested in nutrition – not as a fat loss manoeuver, but as a means to optimize functional fitness. For several years, we went about it the wrong way. Sticking to our fitness goals (17% body fat for Bee, 10% for Jai) was a lo...

Tuesday, August 12, 2014. 2014 Garden Bloggers Fling - Portland, Oregon - Opening Ceremonies. We were warmly welcomed the evening prior to the start of the 2014 Garden Bloggers Fling. At the lovely and striking Pomarius Nursery. Ignoring the delicious smells from coming from the Mexican food truck waiting to feed all of us bloggers, I rushed around checking out the plants. I loved the sophisticated foliage-heavy selection. Pomarius seems to specialize in large size bonsai too. It was a lovely evening cat...

Friday, February 17, 2012. Cornerstone Gardens, Sonoma. My family and I go out to Cornerstone every now and then and I was surprised to realize I had not ever done a post on the place before. Cornerstone consists of a large space divided into individual gardens designed by many amazing garden designers. There are also great stores, a restaraunt and event spaces at Cornerstone. We always enjoy going for a bite to eat, a stroll through the gardens and taking a look through the wonderful retail spaces.

Thursday, November 27, 2014. 2014 Garden Bloggers Fling - Westwind Farm Studio. Luckily, after the punishing sun at Old Germantown Gardens. A cloud cover had formed by the time we arrived at Westwind Farm Studio. As soon as we got off the bus, I had to run through the most beautifully golden, flower-bedecked meadow I have ever seen. It made me want to roll around in the grasses and do naughty things. I believe John Greenlee. Then I began to get peeks into the main garden -. Pool with a view -. Westwind F...

Friday, July 29, 2011. The Birrell and Tucker Gardens of Seattle. Our first stop on the Garden Blogger's Seattle Fling, these two gardens were a joy to explore. Side by side neighbors, I entered the Birrell garden first and enjoyed the textural front plantings. How could any vegetables picked in this garden not taste good? I loved the details in the garden too - like the airstream birdhouse and the beautiful metal gates. The grays and tans gave way to a more cottage-y feel in the backyard. Walking into R...

Thursday, October 9, 2014. 2014 Garden Bloggers Fling - Cistus Nursery and Joy Creek Nursery. After visiting the Lan Su Chinese Garden. We headed over to Cistus Nursery. And Joy Creek Nursery. Was (politely) yelling at me to get back on the bus. By the way it was pretty hot out. This poor doggie in his heavy fur coat managed to find the shadiest, dampest spot he could. They have a fun system at the nursery that helps you locate fragrant plants. I need this for my house. Kate Walz of Gardening and Gardens.

Garden inspiration and design. Warwickshire Open Studios – a sneak peak into the county’s makers spaces. A wonderful thing happens in Warwickshire every summer – all over the county painters, sculptors, potters, stitchers and photographers open up their homes and studios to the general public, as part of the Warwickshire Open Studios. This secluded spot is home to Nicky Richards. Her studio is located at the end of the garden alongside a sheltered terrace with dining table and chiminea. The ‘of...Nicky s...

The garden in July | Heaven Scent Gardens
https://heavenscentgardens.wordpress.com/2015/07/20/1028
Garden inspiration and design. The garden in July. July is a tricky time in the garden. The roses are nearly over, especially if it’s been as wet and windy as we’ve had it recently. The peonies are finished , the early hardy geraniums- e g Johnson’s Blue – have done their bit. Yet the late summer flowers – dahlias, daisies, fuchsias etc – are yet to flower. So this is what I suggested instead-. 4 If you have a greenhouse, pot up lilies which will flower in July, dahlia tubers potted up in large 10l pots ...

Thursday, June 17, 2010. Old Reliables": My top ten landscape plants (#10 through 5). One of my seasoned colleagues told me "build a palette"- -select a few plants you like for sun, a few for shade, a few for dry areas, and a few for wet. Work with those for a while and get to know them like the back of your hand. Then maybe you can add a few more to your repertoire. This was the best advice I was ever given. My top ten "old reliables" for SE WI:. 10) 'Northwind' Switchgrass ( Panicum virgatum. Cultivars...

Detail from Laura Secord book…publishing this August…. August 3, 2011. From the book Laura Secord, the Alphabet by Barbara Klunder Nov 2011. July 20, 2011. Hello my fellow Gardenistas,. This plant the likes of which I had never seen before, is exuberant in spite of itself. Her leaves are stiff, sharp edged, folded like a knife and yet they twist and turn like Shiva in a transcendental dance! I love when exuberance cannot be controlled.
