The Road to "Elder" ado: December 2011
http://theroadtoelderado.blogspot.com/2011_12_01_archive.html
Thursday, 15 December 2011. This much discussed subject came up at dinner with friends last night when I was asked the same question. The underlying concern was that it appeals to our vanity and sense of worth trying to gain following. This was not an accusation against me, but rather a general comment. And the more I think about it, the more I kind of agree. When I started this blog I wanted it to be me making an honest assessment of my own journey in Church leadership. I want it to be real. We had 389 ...

The Road to "Elder" ado: May 2013

Friday, 10 May 2013. Two people I trust have been to Cwmbran and I am delighted to read their experiences. Click their names to see their reviews. Leads Jubilee Church in Derby. Leads Kings Church Horsham. My list of things I want to look out for as I approach stories of God being at move. 1) Lots of talk about Jesus - using the bible to explain the good news. 2) Lots of emphasis on personal salvation. 3) No-one trying to push me over. 4) No heavy sell on "sowing into the revival". The Road to "Elder" ado: November 2011
http://theroadtoelderado.blogspot.com/2011_11_01_archive.html
Friday, 25 November 2011. God has been speaking to our Church recently about gearing up for growth. We need to do something about facilities because we are pretty well full at our current site. So in order for us to explore our options we are opening a Building Development Fund. We have no plans yet. We have no building we want to buy. We have not decided to alter our current premises to fit more people in. We just know we have to do something. So we called a gift day. A national debt advice charity.

The Road to "Elder" ado: June 2011
http://theroadtoelderado.blogspot.com/2011_06_01_archive.html
Thursday, 30 June 2011. The Bible is full of people being named a certain way for a certain reason. People even get renamed as they enter God's purposes. Abram - Abraham, Saul - Paul, your name is important. So we just had the massive privilege. And slightly scary responsibility of. When we had a hard time in our journey to starting a family we held on to the words of the Psalmist: Psalm 30 verse 5, "weeping may remain for a night, but joy comes in the morning.". Esther squeezed my hand. God was at work.

The Road to "Elder" ado: August 2011
http://theroadtoelderado.blogspot.com/2011_08_01_archive.html
Wednesday, 24 August 2011. In November last year someone in the Church was planning to scrap their car but offered it to me first. The worst winter for ages kicked in and I was grateful every morning to have a form of transport with a roof. I am very grateful for that provision but for a while now have begun to think about maybe getting something more suitable for me. Fast forward to August and someone else offered another car, which would be more suitable for me. Result! We have a "Community of goods" s...

The Road to "Elder" ado: There is another skywalker
http://theroadtoelderado.blogspot.com/2013/03/there-is-another-skywalker.html
Thursday, 21 March 2013. There is another skywalker. There is some amazing news in the Matthias household. The kind of mind blowingly, amazingly large news which makes me really happy. It has not all been plain sailing. And reading back that post I realised I used the "Not all plain sailing" line before. Well it wasn't! And this bit sounds daft, but I am actually really blessed by 227 "likes" on facebook for that photo. Posted by Blue, with a hint of amber. 22 March 2013 at 12:18. Sorry for the typos!

The Road to "Elder" ado: October 2011
http://theroadtoelderado.blogspot.com/2011_10_01_archive.html
Wednesday, 19 October 2011. Our Church is undergoing a huge change. God is asking us the think bigger. With that in mind we have called a week of prayer and fasting. At our lunchtime prayer meeting today there were 44 adults and 5 children. I am humbled and excited about so many people caught up in the vision God is placing before us. It does make me wonder what can be achieved in the kingdom if we do really give ourselves to prayer. There are prayer meetings and there are prayer meetings. So today I wai...

The Road to "Elder" ado: Best Bits
http://theroadtoelderado.blogspot.com/p/best-bits.html
Yeah I know it is a bit vain linking to my favourite bits but time is short and some of what I write is worth reading more than others. This is a short cut to help you work out the kind of things that make me tick. Sermons that changed my life: 5. Worship songs that changed my life: 5. What I think about "Unity" and what it means for me: 1. Comments and concerns about the "New apostles" 1. 5 things I love about: Anglicans. And why Mike Pilvachi is my hero. And I told him. The Welsh 3000s: 1.

The Road to "Elder" ado: April 2012
http://theroadtoelderado.blogspot.com/2012_04_01_archive.html
Wednesday, 25 April 2012. Hi Ho, Hi Ho, It is off to Trent we go! So then, tomorrow morning we embark to Nottingham for a newfrontiers gathering. Well actually; it is a gathering of the newly recognised apostolic spheres who work together in the UK as Newfrontiers. And also those people representing Churches who still identify with Newfrontiers as was, and are still waiting to build relationships with one of the new apostolic spheres. Because we are still at the stage of working out what it means. On Jun...
