Our Little Cupcake: October 2011
http://our-little-cupcake.blogspot.com/2011_10_01_archive.html
I'm a babywearing, breastfeeding, disposable diapering, pacifier friendly, co-sleeping, sometimes-crafty Brooklyn mama to an awesome baby girl who happens to have MCADD. Wednesday, October 12, 2011. Letter to my baby: ONE year. I cannot believe it's been a full 12 months since you came into our lives! You are also becoming a slightly pickier eater. That's par with the course, right? It really seems that as you've been exposed to more foods, you seem to remember them and then want them later. The othe...

A Bereaved Parent’s Wishlist. To Collin, Love Mom. Just a Diamond in the Rough…. I do not mourn for what you were, but for what cannot be the unfinished life we did not share.- anonymous. A Bereaved Parent’s Wishlist. A Bereaved Parents Wish List. 1 I wish my child hadn’t died. I wish I had him back. 2 I wish you wouldn’t be afraid to speak my child’s name. My child lived and was very important to me. I need to hear that he was important to you also. 8 I wish you wouldn’t expect my grief to be over...

Scattering Bright: December 2010
http://scatteringbright.blogspot.com/2010_12_01_archive.html
Writing about my time as a father, husband, worker at many trades and my attempts to be a decent guy. If you like what you read, please leave a comment - it will encourage me. Wednesday, December 29, 2010. Just a short post tonight. I'm feeling very tired. We're three days into the aftermath now and life is just beginning to pick up it's pace again. I'm seeing people walk a bit more briskly on the sidewalks and fewer folks stop to look at the shape of a strange snow drift or a fully buried car. I take so...

Ten Months – Bird on the Street
http://birdonthestreet.com/2014/04/ten-months
You are here: Home. In June of last year I had about three different ideas for a website. I wanted something not personal and commercially viable. I wrote all my ideas on scraps of paper, folded them up, and then had my husband pick a scrap from my cupped hands. I made a deal with myself that I would chase down whichever idea he picked for one year without backing down or giving up. He picked “Blog for the Northshore” out of my hands and I got to work. Two months after that an established site. Every day...

One Moment – Bird on the Street
http://birdonthestreet.com/2011/02/one-moment
You are here: Home. I’m sitting in one of those hospital wheelchairs that are usually littered about the Emergency Room entrance. I ‘m in my son’s hospital room; an imposing machine takes up a majority of the real estate with tubes of bright blood flowing out and returning to it. A giant dial turns methodically and a man stands guard–his sole purpose to monitor this machine, the machine that is keeping my son alive. Or is that just my memory softening the moment a little? The doctor stops speaking and I ...

Our Little Cupcake: Sleep Chronicles
http://our-little-cupcake.blogspot.com/2011/08/sleep-chronicles.html
I'm a babywearing, breastfeeding, disposable diapering, pacifier friendly, co-sleeping, sometimes-crafty Brooklyn mama to an awesome baby girl who happens to have MCADD. Thursday, August 11, 2011. It's been a busy last few weeks, both in Cupcake's life and in ours. The main issue with Cupcake is a bizarro sleep regression that I'm having a hard time dealing with. Please forgive the dangling preposition, my mommy brain isn't functioning very well. Sleep deprivation is a b-ch. In any case, even though my a...

Our Little Cupcake: Update: 17 months
http://our-little-cupcake.blogspot.com/2012/03/update-17-months.html
I'm a babywearing, breastfeeding, disposable diapering, pacifier friendly, co-sleeping, sometimes-crafty Brooklyn mama to an awesome baby girl who happens to have MCADD. Wednesday, March 14, 2012. I haven't been updating this blog, and I fear that I'm kinda done with it. I no longer need. She's also doing great health-wise. At her 15 month check-up, she was at the 98% percentile for height, and over the charts for weight. Because of that, we have been officially switched to low-fat (2%) dairy pro...It wa...

Our Little Cupcake: Updates
http://our-little-cupcake.blogspot.com/2011/12/updates.html
I'm a babywearing, breastfeeding, disposable diapering, pacifier friendly, co-sleeping, sometimes-crafty Brooklyn mama to an awesome baby girl who happens to have MCADD. Saturday, December 10, 2011. Life has been busy, and it's been a while since we've posted. And I feel an overwhelming dread that there are just too many things I want to say and not enough time. So I will paraphrase. Probably not, but worth keeping an eye on. I'm working again. *Finally* And even though it's only part-time right now,...

Our Little Cupcake: On moving
http://our-little-cupcake.blogspot.com/2011/10/on-moving.html
I'm a babywearing, breastfeeding, disposable diapering, pacifier friendly, co-sleeping, sometimes-crafty Brooklyn mama to an awesome baby girl who happens to have MCADD. Friday, October 7, 2011. So now we have to deal with finding jobs, getting our own place as soon as possible. And most dauntingly, dealing with a less than desirable health insurance situation. I'm most worried about getting Cupcake a pediatrician, a new metabolic team, and keeping her happy as we deal with all these changes.
