Annuncio: Dan Makes a Short Film [Production Diary #1]. On March 30, 2011. I love genre films… and it was inevitable that someday I’d try to make one of my own. I decided I wanted to start small by doing a 9-12 minute short and thanks to some of the great films I saw at the Philadelphia Film Festival. I thought, how hard could that be? Luckily I know a lot of bored film geeks with nothing better to do. I am still accepting donations up until we begin principal production Saturday April 2nd. Readers will ...

Overdue: A Bookish Podcast From Craig Getting & Andrew Cunningham. On September 27, 2013. You have them. I have them. Everybody has a book smashed at the bottom of a backpack/purse/messenger bag, two sitting on a coffee table, one on a night table, and three downloaded somewhere – works from school, friends’ recommendations, and some from Oprah’s Book Club list (just kidding) – that we endeavored to read but didn’t. While some of us have mastered the art of shirking self assigned tasks, Craig Getting.

Ace Kilroy: A Webcomic by Local Guys Rob Kelly & Dan O’Connor. On December 1, 2011. As I have written about before, one of the truly great things about webcomics is just the sheer amount of different types of comics you can find out there. Literally any type of webcomic can be found if you look hard enough. A perfect example is Ace Kilroy, a webcomic by local talent Rob Kelly and Dan O’Connor. That I recently had the pleasure of being introduced to. December 1, 2011. We have two weeks left to our Kicksta...

The Great Gatsby Review | Cinedelphia
http://cinedelphia.com/gatsby-revie
Raquo; Written by Jeff Piotrowski. In retrospect, it’s an absolute feat that I somehow navigated the waters of the high school English curriculum without having to read F. Scott Fitzgerald’s Great American Novel, The Great Gatsby. Classic statements such as “so we beat on, boats against the current, borne back ceaselessly into the past”. Is a flamboyant, fun affair. Critics will pan Luhrmann’s restless, style-over-substance approach to the fiction; after all, his Gatsby. In The Great Gatsby. Luhrmann goe...

Writer, Reader, Geek, Surfer, Picture Taker. Books I’ve Read 2016. December 16, 2014. August 13, 2015. Recently a comic book has grabbed me by the collar with its incredible command of story, art, and character. It also helps that it is hard-boiled detective noir starring anthropomorphic animals. Blacksad is created by Spanish authors Juan Díaz Canales. Writer) and Juanjo Guarnido. Juanjo Guarnido. I’m not sure I have words. Just look at the artwork. LOOK. AT. IT. Writer, Reader, Geek, Surfer, Picture Taker. Books I’ve Read 2016. Favorite Books of 2014. December 21, 2014. March 30, 2015. Ancillary Justice by Anne Leckie. She also pulls off some difficult feats of writing:. Bouncing around in time. A near omniscient AI narrator who is suddenly thrust into a single, limited body. A genderless culture where everyone is referred to as”her”. Colorless Tsukuru Tazaki by Haruki Murakami. For some reason I always end up reading Murakami books in a location similar to some...

You Had Me at Health Insurance. August 27, 2014. This is part of an article I wrote that will be featured in Topwick. The starter button, pressed with the right thumb, makes the engine begin to trill. A twist of the throttle makes the bike bleat, then gulp, then roar. A fire is now contained inches away from fragile flesh. A pull of the left-hand clutch, then a neat press down with the left foot sends the bike into first gear. And thus begins the dance of man and machine. But why do we ride? Riding is a ...

Saturday, November 28, 2009. I have a book that teaches you how to paint with a Sumi brush. One of the lessons was painting with milk so I gave it a try. It can add some very interesting textures and I used it on this kingfisher bird painting. I like some of the effects and I will keep experimenting with it! Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Mad Max: Fury Road review | Cinedelphia

Mad Max: Fury Road. Raquo; Written by Dan Scully. Mad Max: Fury Road. Mad Max: Fury Road. Mad Max: Fury Road. Is as close to a perfect action/adventure flick as I’ve seen since the heyday of Indiana Jones. Let’s talk about it. You’ve probably heard this film referred to as one long chase scene, which it is, but unlike the large majority of modern action flicks in which frenetic action pieces serve as a break from the plot, Fury Road. Machismo seems to be what lead to society’s downfall. Even Fu...Is perh...

WITHOUT A SCREEN : History’s Dream. Raquo; Written by Aaron Mannino. Joe Wright’s recent screen adaptation of. Famed French filmmaker Jean-Pierre Melville (. Has assembled a collection of films that thrive on cinema’s dream-nature, used as a means to draw portraitures of ill-fated romance. These films also inject themselves into the past to provide a near-primary experience of history as only human thought is capable of otherwise. Bernardo Bertolucci described his film. Raquo; Written by Dan Scully. The fundamental problem in remaking a movie like Poltergeist. Yes, it has a few problems, but most are garden variety for any horror remake (How much fan service is too much? Which classic sequences must be included? Which should be cut? And if you can categorize these issues as unavoidable, and you should, there is a ton of fun to be had. That’s the key: fun. To watch the original Poltergeist. Also directed by Gil Kenan. While his take on Poltergeist. As some sort of cinema...

Nostalgia and a Game Review. Published: Sunday, 09 March 2014 15:46. Most of these games that I play repeatedly stand the test of time. I enjoy playing them nowadays, even though they are ten, fifteen, twenty years old. The reason for that enjoyment might be nostalgia. But it might as well be the fact that those are just great games that have aged very well. Most of them are. But some. not so much. Allows me to actually play it again, on a modern PC. All hail dosbox! Battle Realms and an outlook. Further...
