Rock and Roll Agile – Part 1 | Billy Garnet

https://billygarnet.wordpress.com/2010/03/29/rock-and-roll-agile-part-1

Solutions to the worlds big and small problems. Rock and Roll Agile – Part 1. Rock and Roll Agile – Part 1. March 29, 2010. So often I find that life outside of work follows a similar cadence to life at work. Such was the case when I realized my band had been playing together for years and still had not a played any shows (Not counting an annual street party). Like with all good plans change was about get involved. I plan to bring some Agile practices such as adding visual tools of our plans to the band ...

Thank you for getting this discussion going. I believe discussions help to improve things. Here are my 2 cents in a larger then 140 char format:. D) I build sites for certain audiences. If the audience was Mozilla, I probably wouldn’t even test it in IE. Sometimes my clients have been inside intranets us...E) You shou...

And the dish ran away by itself | Billy Garnet

https://billygarnet.wordpress.com/2010/01/04/and-the-dish-ran-away-by-itself

Solutions to the worlds big and small problems. And the dish ran away by itself. And the dish ran away by itself. January 4, 2010. Just coming off the holidays, I experienced what many people do as they visit friends and family. Dishes. Lots of dishes. Plates, gravy boats, knives, forks and spoons of all shapes and sizes (serving spoon, desert spoon, teaspoon, soup spoon, etc). As I was washing the dishes I decided to apply some lean/agile principles. Enter the Agile washer! Ideas to improve the process?

Lean Halloween | Billy Garnet

https://billygarnet.wordpress.com/2009/11/05/lean-halloween

Solutions to the worlds big and small problems. November 5, 2009. While checking Halloween candy I noticed that a small process was automatically created. It was fascinating how many real world examples crept into this small five minute activity. I have tried to highlight lean concepts such as ‘waiting’ with single quotes. Here are the details:. Two kids, each with different size bags of different types of candy. Stage 1: Starting process:. Both kids had a pile of inventory to be sorted through. Child 1 ...

Solutions to the worlds big and small problems. October 27, 2009. Hey everyone. I’m going to keep Hello, world! For my title of this post since I am a programmer at heart. I keep getting into some great conversations and thought I better start blogging these thoughts to share them with the world. Hopefully, the world finds them useful. Most of these blogs will be about Agile (Lean, Scrum, XP, Kanban, etc), ways to solve the worlds large and small problems, and things I just don’t agree with. Follow &ldqu...

Solutions to the worlds big and small problems. Archive for August, 2010. IPad apps at Agile 2010. August 23, 2010. Recently I attended Agile 2010 in Orlando, Florida. It was a wonderful conference where I had some wonderful and insightful conversations with people from all over the world. I was able to help connect people and make introductions as well as meeting some interesting people for the first time. One thing that kept sparking new conversations was seeing someone else with an iPad. Or just doodl...

Twitter Suggestion – Open to Ideas? | Billy Garnet

Solutions to the worlds big and small problems. Twitter Suggestion – Open to Ideas? Twitter Suggestion – Open to Ideas? November 23, 2009. Two very prominent people in the software development world were having a discussion on twitter. The one was suggesting/joking that the other one said they promised to keep their political views to another twitter account. The first replied in twitter that he had made no such promise. The response I got was unexpected. For the record, I love hearing all the personal, ...

Monday, July 26, 2010. Round 5: Day 9 - Total Body Plus. This is "Mr. Moon," it's harder than it looks. (That's what she said.). After we finished working out this morning, Mrs. Gias said that Total Body Plus was always harder than she remembers. After sweating bullets this morning, I have to agree. Geek In A Speedo. Geek in a Suit

Geek in a Suit. A place for me to talk about thoughts relevant to software, consulting, etc. Thursday, 17 November 2016. WTF does "vend" mean? A terminological journey with no clear ending. Now, the root of this little language odyssey is simply that I hate repeating words unnecessarily. If you use dependency-injection, the word Provider is vastly overused thanks to Guice. Interface, the JSR-330. Which standardized it, and it's baby brother Dagger. And the method was called provideBlah(). In that context...
