http://www.geekymomblog.com/2015/07/ill-be-back-in-august

I’ll be back! July 23, 2015. I have things to say, but I’m conferencing, vacationing, catching up on what I missed while away. So I’m going to come back to this space with a vengeance on August first. I hope you are all having a lovely summer! Dog Days of Summer. Leave a Reply Cancel reply. summer – Geeky Mom

http://www.geekymomblog.com/tag/summer

May 18, 2015. Leave a comment on Summer Learning. Which is here in Philly this year. It’s been a few years since I’ve gone as I felt like I’d gotten as much out of it as I could. I’m presenting this year, and I’m looking forward to attending some other sessions on new ideas. Next, I will go to Constructing Modern Knowledge. Finally, I will end with CSTA. In between, I will likely work on my programming skills, perhaps learning yet another language, and I’ll be figuring out how to approach my new ro...

June 17, 2015. Leave a comment on Summer, maybe. I am still teaching of course and I have a new course on the books that I have to develop. I’m going back to where I started and teaching a web design course. I have to relearn some things and learn some new things, but I have a good sense of the structure of the course. So I’ll be working on that this summer. Getting through the end of the year. May 14, 2015. Leave a comment on Getting through the end of the year. Think about your successes and your stude...

Succeeding at school, after school? November 11, 2015. 2 Comments on Succeeding at school, after school? I’ve just finished. More on the CS for All Proposal. September 20, 2015. 3 Comments on More on the CS for All Proposal. I know I should have looked away when I saw this, but I couldn’t help reading a New York Post opinion piece. Putting CS in high schools, where everyone has the opportunity to learn CS can offset this imbalance. Will NYC’s proposal be challenging to implement? May 11, 2015. Next year,...

Stuff – Geeky Mom

August 2, 2015. I’ve tried a number of things: FlyLady. I don’t yet know if this is something I want to throw myself into, but I do know that it’s gotten to a point where I’m so overwhelmed by it that it makes me a little anxious. And really, if you came to my house, you’d say, “What are you talking about? Dog Days of Summer. 3 thoughts on “ Stuff. August 2, 2015 at 10:20 am. August 2, 2015 at 11:26 am. My Hiding Place: The Tensions of Teacher Prep - the money version

http://museyme.blogspot.com/2013/08/the-tensions-of-teacher-prep-money.html

Monday, August 5, 2013. The Tensions of Teacher Prep - the money version. My sense is that state governments are interested in pouring money into private ventures (TFA, charters, online programs) rather than invest in teacher education programs at the state universities. Which is crazy because anyone who wants to be certified usually ends up going through a state school program (since they usually have a more expansive program). Any way to fundraise for these kinds of programs? August 6, 2013 at 6:11 AM.

The news from here | Barbara Sawhill

http://barbarasawhill.net/2013/06/24/the-news-from-here

The news from here. June 24, 2013. It started with a pinch or a cramp under my ribs, and it ended with 6 weeks of medical leave. What I thought was indigestion (this from the person who had never experienced heartburn before), and then later thought was a bug I had caught from a colleague who gave me a ride home that afternoon, turned out to be something much more…a bowel obstruction. And then my dog started barking…at me. Finally, I was taken into a room to be observed. The pain and nausea increased...

http://mamaintranslation.blogspot.com/2015/08/up-in-alps-400-versus-200-view.html

2 sons, 2 languages, 2 countries, 2 worlds (work/home), 2 PhDs. Where translation and in-between-ness have become a way of life. Now with 2 cats and 2 Universities! Sunday, August 02, 2015. Up in the Alps: the 400 versus the 200 View. In the past two days we spent nearly the equivalent of what it would cost to go to two theme parks for a day (or a couple of days in one park) with our family, but it was worth every penny! I can't decide which one I like best. It was my second time (and K's third! My Proje...

Friday, July 10, 2015. 3rd Day of 37. Good morning all the way from San Antonio, TX! Third day of the trip, second night in a hotel. I'm thinking that nearly 30 nights in different hotels will be tiresome! Thankfully we'll spend some nights at people's houses in Europe, phew! So, I should be going now. We're about to literally embark on our greatest adventure since the South Africa trip back in 2012, thanks to my mother-in-law's travel agency. I'd link to her, but then I'd blow my cover (hahaha. such a thin cover, I suppose). That amazing trip was, however, only 10 days long. Than the South Africa trip. Pretty Nake...

daybyday: July 2008

http://daybydayfemalescientist.blogspot.com/2008_07_01_archive.html

Thursday, July 17, 2008. Working Mama and Mr. Mom. So my maternity leave ended and I returned to work. I have to say, I was pleasantly surprised. At how well I handled the transition. I actually feel guilty for how much I'm enjoying being back at work. I think there are a number of factors coming into play here:. Is doing the Mr. Mom thing as a stay at home dad, which makes it a little easier to leave the Wee One in the morning (I get to call home and "talk" to her whenever I want). To be specific), and ...

Forever Changed (Revisiting the South Africa Trip 7 Months Later). Travel changes you forever. That is why I don't mind spending money on travel, quite the contrary, it's the one thing I most enjoy spending with and the one I think it's most worth it. And I blogged a bit about it here.
