Jim's Memories of Unionville: January 2013
http://jimsmemories.blogspot.com/2013_01_01_archive.html
Jim's Memories of Unionville. Saturday, January 19, 2013. THERE HE IS GRANDADDY! One of the first steps in getting ready for a fishing trip is to obtain your fish bait. In the days before the corner store or bait shop where you could purchase your fish bait it was necessary for the diehard fisherman to start out the day before and catch or gather the bait that he needed for his fishing trip. In the photograph above, my grandfather “Tut” and I are searching for crickets under a rock. And second, you had t...

Jim's Memories of Unionville: April 2013

Jim's Memories of Unionville. Monday, April 22, 2013. A VISIT BACK TO UNIONVILLE. As we were getting back in the vehicle, my daughter asked me what I got to snack on. When I replied a stage plank, she had no idea what I was talking about. Our young people today are missing out on some of the better things of life. By the way, they did not have a "Power House Candy Bar" so I had to settle for a Snickers. Family History Research is Fun! James G "Jim" Jones. Colvin and jones store. Sunday, April 14, 2013.

Jim's Memories of Unionville: WHAT ARE PANTS STRETCHERS?
http://jimsmemories.blogspot.com/2015/02/what-are-pants-stretchers.html
Jim's Memories of Unionville. Monday, February 2, 2015. WHAT ARE PANTS STRETCHERS? WHO REMEMBERS THESE HANDY DEVICES? For those born too late - these handy devices were known as pants stretchers. Mother always had a good supply of these for our blue jeans. After the jeans were washed and had not been dried, these wire frames would be inserted into the jean legs and spread out to stretch the material tight. The price is $15.99 a pair (for one pair of pants) or two for the price of $30.00. I realize this w...

Jim's Memories of Unionville: May 2013
http://jimsmemories.blogspot.com/2013_05_01_archive.html
Jim's Memories of Unionville. Saturday, May 11, 2013. As you can see from the picture above the alligator was large, about five feet long. This was one of the biggest events that ever happened in the small community of Unionville, and I never felt comfortable fishing on Rome's pond after the great alligator hunt. James G "Jim" Jones. Jim's Memories of Unionville: July 2013
http://jimsmemories.blogspot.com/2013_07_01_archive.html
Jim's Memories of Unionville. Tuesday, July 30, 2013. AN UNUSUAL LIVE FISH BAIT. One of my grandfather's favorite bream fish bait was the small larva from wasp nests. This was an exceptional bait when the Ouachita River was out of its banks and the pecan tree worms would begin to fall into the flood waters. Baiting your hook with one of these tender morsels would guarantee that the float would go under immediately and you would have a hand sized bream on your line. James G "Jim" Jones. Jim's Memories of Unionville: THE EXPLODING SODA POP BOTTLE
http://jimsmemories.blogspot.com/2015/02/the-exploding-soda-pop-bottle.html
Jim's Memories of Unionville. Wednesday, February 4, 2015. THE EXPLODING SODA POP BOTTLE. Some time ago, as my wife finished washing the coffee air pot from our genealogy meeting and was letting the warm water run to rinse it out, the glass bottle inside the pot exploded. Or, you could actually say the bottle imploded since it was under a vacuum. The explosion was very loud and frightening but thankfully my wife was not injured. James G "Jim" Jones. Jim's Memories of Unionville: THE UNIONVILLE GANG
http://jimsmemories.blogspot.com/p/unionville-gang.html
Jim's Memories of Unionville. These are the stories of the adventures of the group of boys that I will call the “Unionville Gang”. I give the gang this name from the name of the community that they lived in or lived near. This series of stories are the adventures of this gang of boys as they grew up in the countryside of North Louisiana near the town of Unionville. These adventures extend from the time that they were old enough to be let out the sight of their parents well on into their teenage years.
