genealogical trees

Friday, May 31, 2013. On Saturday our family took my parents on a day trip to Nottingham. We were keen to retrace the steps of Joseph Woodward, my great-great-great-grandfather, who was transported for incendiarism for his part in the 1831 Nottingham Riots. He set fire to a stack of beans and a hovel. After we had seen the castle, we walked down through St Peter's Square where the riots began in 1831. There was a demonstration happening as we walked through, which helped set the scene! Here is an article.

genealogical trees: Harriet Kingsnorth's birth record

http://www.genealogicaltrees.blogspot.com/2013/05/harriet-kingsnorths-birth-record.html

Thursday, May 2, 2013. Harriet Kingsnorth's birth record. Over the last month or so I have been doing a lot of thinking about Jesse and Harriet Pullen. They were both from Kent and married in 1818 before emigrating to Van Diemen's land (now Tasmania) in 1821. There's lot of interesting stuff that I could talk about from their time in Van Diemen's land but I'll come back to that later! Maybe it had a bit to do with her age when she died? Whatever the reason, I find that little sentence which includes her ...

genealogical trees: Where to start?

http://www.genealogicaltrees.blogspot.com/2013/05/where-to-start.html

Thursday, May 2, 2013. I have found out so much in the last few months or researching, I hardly know where to start! I'll slowly add the information I've already found, but for the next few months while I'm in the UK, I'll be focussing on the branches of the family tree which originate from England and later Scotland. The Australian material can be researched when I return! May 4, 2013 at 1:29 PM. So glad youve started this! Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). More on Jesse and Harriet.

genealogical trees: Kent day trip

http://www.genealogicaltrees.blogspot.com/2013/05/kent-day-trip.html

Sunday, May 26, 2013. Last Thursday I drove my mum, dad and the four children to Kent to do some family history exploring. We were looking for sites which related to the Kingsnorths and Pullens. That by the time Sarah and John died they were Wesleyan Methodists. There is registration of death for a John Kingsnorth (1822) and Sarah Kingsnorth (1826) with the Maidstone Circuit of the Wesleyan Methodist church which makes me suspect they were no longer Baptists by this stage. Headcorn Methodist burial ground.

genealogical trees: More on Jesse and Harriet

http://www.genealogicaltrees.blogspot.com/2013/05/more-on-jesse-and-harriet.html

Wednesday, May 8, 2013. More on Jesse and Harriet. Following up on my questions about Jesse and Harriet's marriage date. I did a search on the 'findmypast' website. It's a site I've discovered where you can access all sorts of documents which are useful for family tree research. You can often view the original document as well (for a fee). But there were still two - which is curious! And when I looked at the originals, I did find out some new information and realised some of my assumptions were wrong.

genealogical trees: The mystery of Harriet Kingsnorth and Jesse Pullen's marriage

http://www.genealogicaltrees.blogspot.com/2013/05/the-mystery-of-harriet-kingsnorth-and.html

Thursday, May 2, 2013. The mystery of Harriet Kingsnorth and Jesse Pullen's marriage. When I went looking for some of the details of Harriet and Jesse Pullen's marriage date, I found something very curious. There appear to be three records of their marriage in three different parishes in the month of October 1818. This discovery was quite accidental when I was searching on the IGI (the familysearch website). Here are the three entries which I think are most likely referring to the same couple. It's an in...
