Genealogy Frame of Mind: Monday Musings

http://genealogyframeofmind.blogspot.com/2015/06/monday-musings.html

Genealogy Frame of Mind. Everything genealogy with a little dusting of family and everyday life. Back from NGS, Back from Canada. Office is still not back together. But I did take two boxes of files to work on in Canada while Mr Brown Eyes was working. Didn't get as much done as I had hoped, but every little bit helps. One thing is for sure, that old adage about review, review, review, sure is true. I managed to get that corrected and now all 8,000 images are showing! That in its self is awesome! I also ...

Genealogy Frame of Mind: Review Review Review

http://genealogyframeofmind.blogspot.com/2015/06/review-review-review.html

Genealogy Frame of Mind. Everything genealogy with a little dusting of family and everyday life. In yesterday's Monday Musings post I mentioned that I had started to review my older files. I also noted that I had placed the date of the last review on my folders, and that the date was 1998. Quite a time lapse eh? EVERY SINGLE FILE is being gone thru. Here's what I have (and am modifying). Passenger list for Henry Reusch and family. I have it recorded in my file, but no scanned image. Score! Image found wi...

Genealogy Frame of Mind: Who Thought Painting An Office Would Be So Much Work?

http://genealogyframeofmind.blogspot.com/2015/05/who-thought-painting-office-would-be-so.html

Genealogy Frame of Mind. Everything genealogy with a little dusting of family and everyday life. Who Thought Painting An Office Would Be So Much Work? I knew it would be a big job, I guess I just never thought how BIG the job was. I was so excited when we moved into this house. Finally, after raising our two kids and then marrying them off. (LOL), we got our dream house. I actually could have a room of my own for my genealogy. The only problem is, everything but the desk had to leave. Even the two la...

Jennifer's 365 Project: 1347/365 - Kindle Weather Display

http://www.shatteredhaven.com/2012/11/1347365-kindle-weather-display.html

1347/365 - Kindle Weather Display. So I've been working on and off trying to get the Kindle weather display to work properly between a web server and the Kindle. This morning at around 12:15 am I finally got everything working properly. On the web server a shell script (weather-script.sh) runs at certain intervals (via a cronjob) and triggers the following:. Step 1: python script on web server pulls latest weather data from NOAA. Step 4: shell script compresses the png file to make it a smaller file size.

Wonderland Girl's Genealogy: Millet's, Simmons, & Browns, Oh-My!

http://wlgsgenealogy.blogspot.com/2009/08/millets-simmons-browns-oh-my.html

Friday, August 7, 2009. Millet's, Simmons, and Browns, Oh-My! What I found was a household headed up by "Mary J. Simmons," and which included two Simmon's children (Glen age 3 and Horace age 1), an older Brown couple, Melville Simmons (brother-in-law to "Mary J.", and Hiram Millett (age 74). What a mixed household, and I'd certainly be interested in knowing just how they all drifted from "up north" to Missouri. Would I have found them without the Internet? The saga will continue. Wonderland Girl's Genealogy: October 2009

http://wlgsgenealogy.blogspot.com/2009_10_01_archive.html

Sunday, October 18, 2009. Elisbar Elisibaraschwili - 1902-1945. In the meantime, the *present-day* Mr. Elisbaraschwili had done some more sleuthing online and wrote me again, saying it looked like his shirt-tail relative may have been a German POW. Yet Russia was on our side, so he shouldn't have been considered a POW, unless he was captured by the Germans. Mysteries abound. This one will really put my sleuthing abilities to the test. Next steps include:. Posted by Wonderland Girl. Here is where I will j...

Wonderland Girl's Genealogy: February 2009

http://wlgsgenealogy.blogspot.com/2009_02_01_archive.html

Friday, February 20, 2009. Using Censuses to Find Your Family. Earlier in the week I was spending a little time surfing the 'net and working on my elusive Millet line. I was checking out early census records on Ancestry.com, and had come across a couple of new (to me) Millet's whom I had never run into before. More later, I hope! Posted by Wonderland Girl. Jennifer's 365 Project: 1319/365 - Haunted Pumpkin Part 2 - Installation & Test Run

http://www.shatteredhaven.com/2012/10/1319365-haunted-pumpkin-part-2.html

1319/365 - Haunted Pumpkin Part 2 - Installation and Test Run. A few days ago I started working on an arduino powered pumpkin inspired by this Pimp Your Pumpkin. Project I saw on youtube. The purpose is to have a motion (or proximity) sensitive pumpkin that goes from a simulated candle flicker when no one is around to a menacing red light and spooky noise if someone gets too close. The majority of the coding and setup I completed on Thursday. But unfortunately local stores don't carry one and adafruit.

Jennifer's 365 Project: 1336/365 - Jailbreaking the Kindle 4

http://www.shatteredhaven.com/2012/11/1336365-jailbreaking-kindle-4.html

1336/365 - Jailbreaking the Kindle 4. I'd love to have this Kindle Weather Display hack. And when I stumbled across a cheap Kindle 4 on eBay, I couldn't pass it up. So tonight it's just me, an orange meow meow, a bowl of popcorn and endlessly surfing forum posts for details now that I've jailbroken a Kindle 4. The jailbreak was super easy. Trust me. Drop some files on it, reboot, reboot, etc. No ssh support means performing a USBNet hack. Honestly, unless that beast completed died I can't see using the s...

Genealogy Frame of Mind

Genealogy Frame of Mind. Everything genealogy with a little dusting of family and everyday life. Amazing What One Little Letter Can Do. Many years ago I started researching my husbands family tree. It began with a simple chart that his father or someone on the line had done. It was a great little chart and it definitely gave me enough to get off to a great start. Reusch Caroline - Donzer Henry, Vol. B - p65 1844 July 1, Louis Richter, Minister of the Gospel". Notice the spelling of Henry's name as DONZER?
