GENERAL ADMISSION: Link-O-Rama: 12/16
http://generaladmission.blogspot.com/2009/12/link-o-rama-1216.html
Wednesday, December 16, 2009. A run down of the sites and videos that have caught my attention in the last week or so:. You know how to make boring photos entertaining? Replace all the beer, wine and liqour bottles with cats using Photoshop. World, meet Boozecats. This little animated video is a thing of a hilarious thing of beauty. As Drawn. If anyone wants to buy me a Christmas present two months after Christmas actually happens, feel free to by me this: "Here Lies Love.". Apparently, BBCs Channel 4 is...
GENERAL ADMISSION: I Aught to Know: Music
http://generaladmission.blogspot.com/2009/12/i-aught-to-know-music.html
Sunday, December 20, 2009. I Aught to Know: Music. Not based on what was technically the best, but instead what I probably listened to the most. Also, some favoritism was given to the second half of the decade because even though Weezer's. Got a ton of playtime on my CD player in 2002, I can't bring myself to add it to the list. I actually might like. You Forgot It In People". Along with their later self-titled album, this was basically the soundtrack to Sarah and I planning our big trip. Like Arcade...
GENERAL ADMISSION: Om Box
http://generaladmission.blogspot.com/2010/04/om-box.html
Friday, April 16, 2010. Sorry for basically ditching this blog, but between personal life being busy, and the fact that I now tend to just post links to things that interest me on Facebook, I've been neglectful here. That's not to say this blog will go away anytime soon. For one thing, Sarah and I use the blog roll on the right to keep up to date with our favorite blogs. And, for another, from time to time, it allows me to post things like this. And, I love Jamie Hewlett and Damon Albarn's work on. Charl...
GENERAL ADMISSION: Link-O-Rama: 1/7
http://generaladmission.blogspot.com/2009/12/link-o-rama.html
Thursday, January 07, 2010. A run down of the sites and videos that have caught my attention in the last week or so:. I've seen this sort of thing several times before, but this is probably the most sublime and elaborate video of this type I've come across yet. Basically, the artist (in this case DeePee Studios. As the guy says on the Drawn blog entry I spotted this on. Also snagged from Drawn. Since I don't have cable these days, I haven't watched MTV in. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Why I-732, t...

Friday, January 22, 2010. A run down of the sites and videos that have caught my attention in the last week or so:. This pretty much blows my mind into little tiny pieces. I enjoy CGI work, when its done well. But, usually, I think it tends to lack the. er. poetry of actual good cinematography. Not the case here. This piece is pretty much just atmospheric locations, but the subtle focus details and the richness of detail is incredible. All-CGI, and created by just one person. The Third and The Seventh.

The Bad Genious: Summer Reading, pt. 6
http://badgenious.blogspot.com/2009/08/summer-reading-pt-6.html
Summer Reading, pt. 6. Captain America: Reborn #2. I know I reviewed my latest batch of Marvel books last week, but I decided to give Captain America: Reborn another shot. The first issue fell kind of flat for me for two reasons: the same two reasons this issue fell flat for me. What a coincidence? Batman and Robin #2. Possibly, but if you haven't gotten on board yet, what's your excuse? The Savage Dragon #150. Yeah, that's awesome, especially when many Marvel and DC books cost you just two bucks less fo...
The Bad Genious: June 2009
http://badgenious.blogspot.com/2009_06_01_archive.html
Summer Reading, pt. 1. Summer. This is the comic book fan's season for catching up and enjoying a good, geeky book while one should be outside instead. Jenn remarked last week while on our honeymoon, "How did comic books end up coming on our honeymoon? Grendel War Child #'s 1-10. Star Wars: The Clone Wars #6. This first arc was in no way as engaging as the first season of the television show. Maybe it will pick up soon, but if the second arc doesn't grab me, this book will be on the chopping block. Kinda...

Bureau of Drawers Quarterly. I know that none of the Bad Genious has posted here in something like 4 years, but I thought I'd take a moment to promote a project that I've been involved with recently. Over the last several years, I've been part of a collective of Seattle based illustrators, know as the Bureau of Drawers. Recently, our group has been producing a free, quarterly digital anthology titled -imaginatively-. Bureau of Drawers Quarterly. Nothing to see here, move along. Posted by The General.

Wolverine has graced a ton of covers and here are my Top Ten Best Wolverine covers and my Top Ten Worst Wolverine covers. It was difficult to really pinpoint which ones I loved but it was not difficult at all in picking the worst ones. They were quite a few stinkers in there. Does one of your favorites make my list? Or does it land in the worst list? TOP TEN WOLVERINE COVERS. 1) WOLVERINE #1 (1st Limited Series). All in one cover. 2) UNCANNY X-MEN #212. 3) MARVEL COMICS PRESENTS #79. Barry Windsor-Smith'...
The Bad Genious: Waited for Trade: More Birthday Goodness
http://badgenious.blogspot.com/2009/08/waited-for-trade-more-birthday-goodness.html
Waited for Trade: More Birthday Goodness. I am a sucker for trades. A couple of months ago I purchased some trades with some birthday money and I have noticed a trend my wife absolutely hates. Usually when I buy a batch of trades it leads to more trades. And sure enough, I splurged and bought a whole bunch more. With this batch, I reviewed. Weapon Omega, Green Lantern: No Fear, Mouse Guard: Winter 1152, Annihilation Book 2, Kinetic and the highly anticipated (by yours truly) Captain Britain Omnibus.

A Week of Watching THE WATCHMEN! It’s the fifth and final day of the Bad Genious gang’s dissection of the Watchmen. Movie We’ve got lots of ground to cover today, as we talk about everything from the film’s use of music, to a game of “What If? 8221; with the directors who were attached to the film over the years, to a final discussion of Dr. Manhattan’s …. ummmm…. weapon of mass destruction. So, you know the drill by now…. SPOILER WARNINGS ON! Damn, that was impressive. The opening sequence was killer.

More ranting and raving on comic book collecting? You ask. Yes! I can deliver on that. It's free and a renewable resource. Just don't abuse my cantankerous attitude for your own benefit. My targets this week include Kingdom Come, Ultimatum, Back Issues, and The Spirit movie. Enter all who dare. Give DC a Chance, pt. II. Could I actually appreciate a book from a company I have little love for? Actually, no. I could not like. Back (issues) to the Future. Might I offer you an alternative? Ditto Aside from k...
The Bad Genious: Summer Reading, pt. 5
http://badgenious.blogspot.com/2009/08/summer-reading-pt-5.html
Summer Reading, pt. 5. The penultimate article of my summer reading series has arrived! That lusty picture to the left isn't here just to fit our monthly T&A quotient! No sir, we have more taste than that around these parts. But was I disappointed or elated this month? The Invincible Iron Man #15. What can I say about the "World's Most Wanted" arc that I haven't already said? Frank Castle: The Punisher #72. Ultimatum Spider-Man Requiem #2. Because Spider-Man was there? Because a busload of kids got saved?

Friday, January 07, 2011. Ten for '10 - My Favorite Albums of 2010. Figured I'd dust of Ye Olde General Admission to do a rundown of my Top 10 Favorite Albums of 2010. I've effectively deluded myself into thinking people might actually care about my opinion, because nothing says Musical Authority™ quite like a person sitting at their computer in a basement who can neither sing nor play an instrument. So, onward to the list. This album didn't didn't have the "thrill of the new" to it. And, unlike. To date...
