Melinda, Sam, and Raina. The Adventures of the Nevels Family. Ogden Botanical Gardens - September 2015. Sunday, July 5, 2015. 4th of July Adventures - Continued. Forgot to include this gem on the earlier post:. Yes, a mama scorpion with babies all over the place - found in the camp chair we took out for lunch. Good thing it wasn't mine or Sam's because I probably would have torched it. To slide and couldn't because of the type of car we have.). We had plenty of glow sticks, so we pulled all of them out a...

Melinda, Sam, and Raina: Swimming Lessons
http://mindaandsam.blogspot.com/2015/07/swimming-lessons.html
Melinda, Sam, and Raina. The Adventures of the Nevels Family. Ogden Botanical Gardens - September 2015. Friday, July 24, 2015. See that head that won't go in the water? 2nd week of swimming. The first week Raina wouldn't put her head in the water. Kind of hard to do the strokes correctly if you won't put your head in the water. By the end of the 2nd week, Raina was doing much better - although still holding her head up when on her back. In the deep end. I even took her swimming the next week (right befor...

Melinda, Sam, and Raina: October 2014
http://mindaandsam.blogspot.com/2014_10_01_archive.html
Melinda, Sam, and Raina. The Adventures of the Nevels Family. Ogden Botanical Gardens - September 2015. Friday, October 31, 2014. I love that Raina wanted to be a Fairy Princess this year for Halloween. I pulled out the princess costume from last year (thanks Mom) and the yellow wings/crown she got for Christmas a couple years ago. I did buy (ie, search all over for) body glitter, which actually was not as easy to find as I thought it would be. Butterfly, Rose, and Jewel. Thursday, October 30, 2014.

Melinda, Sam, and Raina: December 2014
http://mindaandsam.blogspot.com/2014_12_01_archive.html
Melinda, Sam, and Raina. The Adventures of the Nevels Family. Ogden Botanical Gardens - September 2015. Saturday, December 27, 2014. Sam and I have been talking about getting this for Raina for a while. We just weren't sure she could do it (because she hasn't been able to do the "tri" version by herself.) We already had enough stuff for Christmas, but decided the weather would be better now then around her birthday and we could put the money into it instead of doing sports this year. I'm also including s...

Melinda, Sam, and Raina. The Adventures of the Nevels Family. Ogden Botanical Gardens - September 2015. Tuesday, June 30, 2015. St George Trip - The Rest. On Monday, we went out to breakfast (since we rarely do that) and ran into a family we knew when we lived in Utah - small world! We shopped at the outlets a little - always nice to get great deals on things you need. Monday night we had a movie night with popcorn, treats, and a movie we brought with us. This is actually Sunday. Someone at this point mi...

Bake, Bubble, and Broil: Family and Good Food
http://bakebubblebroil.blogspot.com/2012/02/family-and-good-food.html
Bake, Bubble, and Broil. Monday, February 27, 2012. Family and Good Food. The main course was a pork tenderloin that I seasoned with salt, pepper, shallots, garlic, fresh thyme, fresh rosemary, and fresh oregano. I then wrapped the tenderloin in pancetta, which is similar to bacon, but not smoked. All of the herbs on the tenderloin gave it a great flavor. Anne is an AMAZING chef! She's just started her own fantastic blog. Check out her excellent recipes. More cooking to come! March 10, 2012 at 10:24 AM.

Bake, Bubble, and Broil: Farewell Oregon, Hello Utah!
http://bakebubblebroil.blogspot.com/2012/02/farewell-oregon-hello-utah.html
Bake, Bubble, and Broil. Friday, February 3, 2012. Farewell Oregon, Hello Utah! I served the roast with some mashed potatoes. I used the drippings from the roast to make a gravy by thickening it with a little flour. I've found the best way to make a flavorful and smooth gravy is reserve a few tablespoons of the drippings and mix it with the flour or cornstarch first and then add that mixture to the rest of your drippings. Bake, Bubble, and Broil: May 2012
http://bakebubblebroil.blogspot.com/2012_05_01_archive.html
Bake, Bubble, and Broil. Monday, May 28, 2012. Michele Pineapple Upside Down Cake = DISASTER! It's been forever since I've blogged about anything. Part of the reason is that I just haven't cooked very much in the past few months, but the other reason is that I started school at the beginning of May and my time has been greatly consumed with studying throughout the past month. Who is an AMAZING chef, suggested I try a recipe by Tyler Florence. That she absolutely loves and has had great success with. ...

Bake, Bubble, and Broil: June 2012
http://bakebubblebroil.blogspot.com/2012_06_01_archive.html
Bake, Bubble, and Broil. Sunday, June 3, 2012. Nothing says summer like a fresh fruit pie! I decided to escape town for the Memorial Day holiday last weekend. I didn't go anywhere exciting, just home for a nice relaxing weekend. While there I grabbed some fresh rhubarb from my dad's garden. Rhubarb is an interesting vegetable because usually it is treated more like a fruit than a vegetable. It's very tart, so it's often paired with fruits especially strawberries. This recipes calls for a crumb top crust&...
