Sunday, September 25, 2011. Good News, Bad News. One of the drawbacks of working in an environmental field and paying attention to the news in these fields, is that you don't often come into contact with much in the way of good news. In the last few weeks, the Franklin's Bumblebee ( Bombus franklini. They look like this. It's di...

Chaudhary Soil Ecology Group. I grew up in a suburb of Minneapolis and come from a family that always valued outdoor experiences and adventure! My parents immigrated from India in the 1960s and shared with me their generations-old ethics regarding nature, agriculture and land management. Despite my deep appreciation for nature, I am a city girl at heart, and feel so fortunate to be able to teach environmental science and do research in the fabulous city of Chicago! Where I studied mycorrhizal fungal biog...

A blog about urban ecology, environmental science generally, energy issues, modern naturalism, and what it means to be a mostly hairless primate in a world dominated by the same. Friday, November 8, 2013. Hello again, kiddos. Been a while, hasn't it? I have been quite busy PhDing, and in particular working on an NSF grant. Exciting times. I do have several blog posts I want to write, on the illusion of linearity in human systems, and other things. Today, however, I created my ORCID account.

http://env-sci-blog.blogspot.com/2013_03_01_archive.html
A blog about urban ecology, environmental science generally, energy issues, modern naturalism, and what it means to be a mostly hairless primate in a world dominated by the same. Tuesday, March 26, 2013. So I haven't posted in rather a long while. Mostly because I graduated from my Master's program, got married, was busy working on research, crammed everything I owned into a remarkably small steel box, and then moved across the country with two cats. Did I mention I don't drive? I do have an amazing wife.

Environmentally Scientific Emblogulations: Journals, Open Access, and the Cost of Knowledge
http://env-sci-blog.blogspot.com/2013/12/journals-open-access-and-cost-of.html
A blog about urban ecology, environmental science generally, energy issues, modern naturalism, and what it means to be a mostly hairless primate in a world dominated by the same. Monday, December 9, 2013. Journals, Open Access, and the Cost of Knowledge. An article on slashdot. Brought to my attention that Elsevier- Academic Publisher and Intellectual Gangster- is going after authors for sharing their own work. Of many publishers are like, I was appalled (note, they have improved, slightly, since then).
