Getting Our Ducks in a Row

Getting Our Ducks in a Row. Friday, October 28, 2011. Week 18: Gender Determination! Happy 18th week of life, baby! I am still tired at night after a busy day at work. Our sweet Dixie dog did Mark's job the other night by breathing in my face in order to wake me up on the couch. I think she was telling me to go to bed! Sleeping on my side is hard to do since I am a belly sleeper but I want to make sure both the baby and I have good, strong blood flow (according to all the books). I have had more cravings...

Getting Our Ducks in a Row: February 2011

http://www.gettingourducksinarow.blogspot.com/2011_02_01_archive.html

Getting Our Ducks in a Row. Wednesday, February 23, 2011. Instead of calculating points by calories, fat and fiber, now points are determined by fat, carbs, fiber, and protein. I started last Tuesday and after my first weigh in, I am already down 2.2 pounds! That doesn't sound like much but it is on the high end of what they say you should lose each week so I am proud of that! I have a pretty lofty goal so I have to plug away week by week. That's the only way to get it off! Links to this post. The usual ...

Getting Our Ducks in a Row: Our "New" Dog Lonestar

http://www.gettingourducksinarow.blogspot.com/2011/10/our-new-dog-lonestar.html

Getting Our Ducks in a Row. Wednesday, October 5, 2011. Our "New" Dog Lonestar. We are getting a new-to-us dog and I couldn't be more excited! I actually said yes before even talking to Mark about it but I knew how much he loved Lonestar so I wasn't too worried about him saying no to this request for a dog (although I have received MANY no responses in the past! This is the picture Mark sent me just after picking her up. So funny! I already love Lonestar and can't wait for her to join our little family!

Getting Our Ducks in a Row: A Weekend Together

http://www.gettingourducksinarow.blogspot.com/2011/10/weekend-together.html

Getting Our Ducks in a Row. Monday, October 3, 2011. Mark and I spent the weekend in Austin together. Although I didn't take any pictures, we had a great time together! The only thing I really wanted to do while in Austin was to go to Amy's Ice Cream. That ice cream is beyond good! Mark was a total trooper and walked over a mile with me to get the ice cream then walked back to the hotel. The dark chocolate with graham crackers and marshmallows was worth every step in my eyes! Mark and I married on July 1...

Getting Our Ducks in a Row. Friday, September 30, 2011. I am so lucky to work at a school for children with learning differences because so many unique opportunities come up on a regular basis. This lucky time happened to be a Baby Sign Language class! This caught my attention for two main reasons. One, I can't help myself, I love. Taking classes. Mark has always joked that if the word class is in the description, I will take it (nerd alert! So, in a year when you see me at a restaurant with my hands fly...

After His Heart: Homeless...at 5!

http://papaw-afterhisheart.blogspot.com/2011/09/homelessat-5.html

Thursday, September 29, 2011. Tonight I met a young man who is five-years old. John (not his real name) looks very much like most of the five-year old boys I know. He had short blond hair and a clean-scrubbed face and wore a pair of khaki pants and a little white Polo shirt. The big difference between John and most of the five-year olds that I know and you know, is that John is homeless. After that, I could see the face of the man who had a lame arm, the Army veteran with PTSD who continues to remember t...

Getting our family here

Getting our family here. Sunday, June 26, 2011. I talked to my doctor about it. I was floored to learn that a patient isn't referred for any of this kind of testing until after three miscarriages. Since I could get pregnant, I wasn't considered infertile, so I couldn't just go see a fertility specialist, insurance would never pay for it. Insurance also wouldn't pay for any testing for the miscarriages because I hadn't had three. Links to this post. Then there was that irrational part of me that when each...
