Walkabout of the Mind: November 2008
http://walkaboutofthemind.blogspot.com/2008_11_01_archive.html
Walkabout of the Mind. Friday, November 14, 2008. I came across a couple of items this week that show us that if we listen we can be forewarned. The first is a quote from Elder Neal A. Maxwell who really was a prophet, seer and revelator. 8220;Jesus said that when the fig trees put forth their leaves ‘summer is nigh’ (Matt. 24:32). Thus warned that summer is upon us, let us not then complain of the heat.”. Elder Neal A. Maxwell, “Meeting the Challenges of Today”. BYU Devotional, 10 Oct 1978. But as I've ...

Walkabout of the Mind: 2010 MS 100 Bike Ride
http://walkaboutofthemind.blogspot.com/2010/06/2010-ms-100-bike-ride.html
Walkabout of the Mind. Saturday, June 26, 2010. 2010 MS 100 Bike Ride. Quick note to share the map of the MS 100 Bike Ride I participated in today in Logan (and the surrounding communities.). The weather could not have been better. I love Cache Valley this time of year. Temperatures in the low 80's, green pastures, beautiful wild flowers, and blue skies! I think some day I would like to live there. After a team photo we weaseled our way as close to the front of the second wave of riders as we could get a...

Walkabout of the Mind: June 2009
http://walkaboutofthemind.blogspot.com/2009_06_01_archive.html
Walkabout of the Mind. Monday, June 29, 2009. MS Bike Ride Journal Day 2. Okay, pretend I wrote this on Saturday after the ride instead of two days later. I was tired. I set my alarm for 5:30 am But when I woke up at 5:10 I decided it was probably better to just get up than to spend the next 20 minutes worrying about when the alarm was going to go off. I packed up my things and headed by 5:30. After a quick trip to McDonald's drive- thru. For a sausage and egg bagel. Me at the front of a starting line is...

Walkabout of the Mind: How Easily We Get Bored
http://walkaboutofthemind.blogspot.com/2009/04/how-easily-we-get-bored.html
Walkabout of the Mind. Thursday, April 30, 2009. How Easily We Get Bored. Has it been two months since my last blog? What a crazy Spring in Utah - or should I say, lack of Spring. 90 Degrees one day, snow the next. It's made my bike training rather difficult. Regardless, I'm starting to get in the habit. Out each day at lunchtime I'm slowly getting my endurance and strength back . at least my cycling strength. I started a nightly routine of situps and pushups to try and strengthen my core. Wow! The Love ...

Walkabout of the Mind: May 2009
http://walkaboutofthemind.blogspot.com/2009_05_01_archive.html
Walkabout of the Mind. Friday, May 29, 2009. Going MS for MS. I guess it's time that I come clean: I'm going MS for MS. By the first MS I mean metro sexual. The second is Multiple Sclerosis. For the second time I'm riding in the MS Bike Tour (I won't call it by it's official name because I don't like it) in Logan Utah. Last time in order to motivate donors I shaved my head. This time, I'm being a little more subtle - I've shaved my legs. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Saratoga Springs, Utah, United States.

Walkabout of the Mind: October 2008
http://walkaboutofthemind.blogspot.com/2008_10_01_archive.html
Walkabout of the Mind. Wednesday, October 29, 2008. Marie-Antionette and Entitlement Programs. My brother, David, posted an interesting comment on my last blog about Marie-Antionette, the Austrian born aristocrat who donated her head to french peasant science. Gary Martin provides the following history of the phrase, "Qu'ils mangent de la brioche" or "let them eat cake.". Why don't they eat pastry? At length I recollected the thoughtless saying of a great princess, who, on being informed that the country...

A glimpse into the life and times of the Gibby family. I know I shouldn’t go there, but …. They (whoever “they” are) say you should never talk about politics or religion because those are two things that can invoke some very heated discussions. However, my brothers David. I’ll admit, I used to be one of those. I remember the bitter defeat of George H. W. Bush by Bill Clinton. How could our country ever survive with that sleazeball Democrat in office? So where am I going with this? Surely I can’t be...
