Sunday, May 20, 2012. Awesome day on the bike and in the hills! Our “attack” on Mt Baldy started with a 35km climb to 2. Once the road was open to traffic again it was time for our descent down to our pick up point. Normally the idea of a 45km descent would have you jumping for joy! Well the descent was brilliant but the head wind was not! The crowds at the KOM. Peter and Gilly at the KOM 35km of climbing completed! Brilliant view of the course. Saturday, May 19, 2012. Tour of California: Gran Fondo

Saturday, May 12, 2012. Today we tackled the local Gran Fondo race as part of the Tour of California, a 100km ride around Santa Rosa. It was a respectable 8am start with around 170 competitors for the 100km event (¼ of the riders were on TT bikes). It was a great ride through the vineyards on undulating roads which would be described as a little rough! Any event that provides free beer at the end is worth coming back to! Tomorrow the Tour of California starts! Post ride recovery drink, "Beer".

Thursday, May 10, 2012. Golden Gate Bridge Ride. We have had a brilliant start to our Tour of California trip. After a good hour looking over John’s new acquired Custom Made Carbon bike! This was shortly followed by a quick tour of her own home, “The Valentine Rey House” which was classed as a Historical Place. The people you meet? From there we headed back to Sausalito and on to the Golden Gate Bridge for a few more photos! Great start to the trip and now it is time for a welcome dinner.

Thursday, May 17, 2012. Today was a little easier with a shorter 50km ride which was helped with a tail wind for the entire ride. We travelled through the Santa Ynez wine region to our stop for lunch at Los Olivos. Los Olivos is noted for the wine tasting! It was a given that we had to try the local wines for lunch. Now we are staying in Santa Barbara for the next 2 nights before taking on Mt Baldy, bring it on! The boys are powering along with the tail wind. Time to help the local economy.
