毛色はブラック、ブラック アンド シルバー、 ソルト アンド ペッパーがあります。 別格とといえば、他の全てのテリア種は、 ヨーロッパの島で生活していた犬が祖先なのに対し、 この犬種だけ、スタンダードシュナウザーとアーフェットピンシャー、 ミニチュアピンシャーという異なる犬を交配させて作られたという点でも別格です。 ミニチュアシュナウザーができたばかりのころは、 両親の犬がミニチュアシュナウザーなのに、 生まれてきた子犬がミニチュアピンシャー、 アッフェンピンシャーと別の犬種として登録された記録もあるくらいです。 ミニチュアシュナウザーの毛色は、 ブラック、 ブラック アンド シルバー、 ソルト アンド ペッパー の3種類があります。 しかし、基本はブラック、ブラック アンド シルバー、 ソルト アンド ペッパーの3種類です。 ソルト アンド ペッパーの毛色は ウルフスピッツから来ていると言われています。
