Tuesday, January 29, 2008. GIS 215 Class #2. So, in regards to class number 2. . . I thought it was a really good overview/introduction (depending on perspective) of data models. Certainly the class exercise. Certainly it can create a number of fields on its own. I have so far to go! Until Next Time - Jill.

GIS Fun with Anna: Clipping
http://annasgis.blogspot.com/2008/04/clipping.html
GIS Fun with Anna. To apply a better understanding of GIS to my portfolio of expertise. .and get a great job. Wednesday, April 2, 2008. Clipping: Clipping trims features in one layer at the boundaries of features in another layer. This lets you work with layers that have a common spatial extent, making it easier to navigate a map. To Clip a spatial attribute based within a layer you must select that attribute. I first created a new layer. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). View my complete profile.

Blog for GIS class: February 2008
http://blogforgisclass.blogspot.com/2008_02_01_archive.html
Blog for GIS class. Sunday, February 24, 2008. When I got done doing 16C, I didn't export it because I was thinking all the changes I'd made had been in the attribute table and not in the actual map. Later I realized the lot numbers had changed, so here it is, somewhat belatedly. Saturday, February 23, 2008. Thursday, February 14, 2008. Thursday, February 7, 2008. Well, it seemed like a great idea yesterday. Today all the topics I can think of sound lame and not geographically based. Info from UNCA Caree...

http://blogforgisclass.blogspot.com/2008_08_01_archive.html
Blog for GIS class. Sunday, August 31, 2008. Finally figured out how to get the X,Y points into my map, great. Now I just have this small problem that Kigali, Rwanda shows up in Tanzania. I tell the points layer that it needs to be the same coordinate system as the rest of the map. Kigali, Rwanda is still in Tanzania. Also, Bequia is floating out in the middle of the Caribbean. Labels: Add XY points tool. Wednesday, August 27, 2008. Of course my contour lines don't contain a damn thing that is georeferen...

Sunday, April 18, 2010. Western North Carolina Mapping Project. Because of some limitations of Google Maps, we will focus on a mixture of using points for as many features a possible and then uploading individual layers to overlay Google Maps for the trails. To supplament Google Maps, a link will be included to access full maps with traditional elements. The maps are not tweeked fully yet and comments are most welcome on the maps that I have included here. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).

Blog for GIS class. Thursday, March 20, 2008. Which means Erwin High School is actually . nowhere. This is not really related. But a million times I have wished I had a map of Buncombe County's school districts so I knew where the Erwin district melts into the Asheville and Enka districts. Sorry I was grouchy in class today. Blog for GIS class: Campus geodatabase.
http://blogforgisclass.blogspot.com/2009/02/campus-geodatabase.html
Blog for GIS class. Sunday, February 22, 2009. The top image is data frame 1. The bottom image is the geodatabase created from the CAD layer. I created a raster catalog file, but it turned out blank. I'm not sure what this means, nor how to use it to move on to updating the buildings layer and heads-up digitizing. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Http:/ www.typebrewer.org. Friday, February 12, 2010. Selecting Color Schemes and Converting Colors. One of the most important aspects of making a map look professional is selecting colors. In our last project, I spent a considerable amount of time trying to select custom colors that worked well together and did not overpower other elements of the maps. In doing reasearch for another class I happened upon a site devoted to assisting in the selection fo colors for maps. The site is http:/ colorbrewer2.org/. Friday, February 5, 2010.
