The Give and Bake Project

The Give and Bake Project. Trying to brighten the day of Chicago's homeless one cupcake at a time. Monday, June 27, 2011. Week #12- Charles (and the chocolate chip cookies). I was delighted by his enthusiasm. I offered up my cookies and his reply was "Can you instead go to McDonald's and get me a fish sandwich? I nervously laughed, hoping he was just joking around with me. I realized he was serious when he figured out I wasn't going to get him a fish sandwich, and his tune quickly changed. 3 1/3 c flour.

The Give and Bake Project: Week #6- Lawrence (and the applesauce spice bars)

The Give and Bake Project. Trying to brighten the day of Chicago's homeless one cupcake at a time. Monday, May 16, 2011. Week #6- Lawrence (and the applesauce spice bars). Lawrence was pretty excited to have my applesauce spice bars, so he scored points in my book just for that. I couldn't take another s'mores kind of day! Lawrence may not have the gift of gab, but doggoneit, he did have the good sense to wear snowpants in May (which he got a great chuckle out of), so that makes him a-o-k in my eyes!

The Give and Bake Project: April 2011

The Give and Bake Project. Trying to brighten the day of Chicago's homeless one cupcake at a time. Thursday, April 28, 2011. Week #4- Marcus (and the banana bread). I started off by (politely) getting straight to the point- what was he planning to do with the money he collects? He said he spends most of the money he collects either on food or train passes to get to and from work. Well, if he has a job, then why does he need to collect change? Marcus recently interviewed for a line cook position with Famo...

The Give and Bake Project. Trying to brighten the day of Chicago's homeless one cupcake at a time. Wednesday, May 18, 2011. Week #7- Rodney (and the rhubarb bars). But as soon as the words came out of my mouth, I knew how this conversation was going to go. And sure enough, his reply was "what is rhubarb? I knew I was going to like Rodney. Then he ran past us with the plate saying "I need to have my friend try some of this." When he came back out I asked him who his friend was. He pointed to a man...Subsc...

Four Frosted Flakes: Fun with Seamless Paper

http://fourfrostedflakes.blogspot.com/2012/01/fun-with-seamless-paper.html

Oh the places we will go! Sunday, January 22, 2012. Fun with Seamless Paper. Bryant asks me daily if we can make a "craft". Somedays I run out of fun things to do but I know I can always count on seamless paper to keep them entertained. The kids enjoy not only coloring on the seamless paper but also coloring on the hardwood floors as well. It is a good thing I opted for the washable crayons! The best thing about the paper is that it allows the kids a really large space to get creative.

Four Frosted Flakes: April 2011

http://fourfrostedflakes.blogspot.com/2011_04_01_archive.html

Oh the places we will go! Saturday, April 9, 2011. A Day at the Fire Station. Today was a fun day! We were invited to a birthday party at the newly built Fire Station. Bryant talked about it all morning long and couldn't wait to take a nap knowing that when he woke up again, we would be heading to see fire trucks. Our friend Eric gave Bryant the full tour and even letting him climb up in the trucks. Bryant couldn't have been happier! And now back to driving the trucks. Thursday, April 7, 2011.

Four Frosted Flakes: December 2010

http://fourfrostedflakes.blogspot.com/2010_12_01_archive.html

Oh the places we will go! Sunday, December 26, 2010. Santa comes to town. Yesterday was Christmas and Santa was very good to our kids. You can see the absurd amount of presents under the tree. Bryant was completely obsessed with the large present on the right. He helped me wrap it for Uncle Brett and repeatedly told everyone that it was Brett's present. Here he is in his hard hat that came with the digger that Garrett gave him. Mike and I had a good Christmas as well. Mike received sawhorses, a workm...

Four Frosted Flakes: Laughing all the way...

http://fourfrostedflakes.blogspot.com/2011/12/laughing-all-way.html

Oh the places we will go! Friday, December 9, 2011. Laughing all the way. After months of trying to learn Photoshop, I finally had the time to sit down and make my very own photo card. Actually I made a whole bunch of them and this ended up being my favorite. I can't wait to work on my next one. Perhaps a Christmas thank you card? I love knowing that it will be the only one like it on someone's refrigerator. December 9, 2011 at 6:26 PM. Im still trying to find the time to work out PS :(.

Four Frosted Flakes: November 2011

http://fourfrostedflakes.blogspot.com/2011_11_01_archive.html

Oh the places we will go! Tuesday, November 22, 2011. I am always in awe of my children's imagination. Today two chairs and a blanket became a "trailer" in which Bryant backed his train up to. When cleaning up during naptime I found a bag of recycled garbage, his changing pad, a box of ensure, clean diapers, a comb and brush, and a ridiculous number of other toys stored in the "trailer". Which was perfectly accessorized with multiple bibs. Or just a great place to relax. Thursday, November 17, 2011.

Four Frosted Flakes: November 2010

http://fourfrostedflakes.blogspot.com/2010_11_01_archive.html

Oh the places we will go! Sunday, November 21, 2010. Luckily Bryant was at the top of his game this weekend and on his very best behavior. He didn't have a single melt down all day Saturday and asked very nicely using please and thank you for whatever he needed. For a few brief moments, I was feeling well enough to take some snapshots of him playing. I also was able to get him to pose a little bit. I can't seem to get him to smile though. When he did smile, he tried to give me Mr. Bear. I am willing to a...

Four Frosted Flakes: Changes...

http://fourfrostedflakes.blogspot.com/2011/11/changes.html

Oh the places we will go! Thursday, November 17, 2011. I am however finding it hard to make work related phone calls while I have two screaming toddlers so I'm going to try making the most of naptime. Luckily the two munchkins are fantastic nappers which gives me at least a couple of quiet hours to get things done. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). View my complete profile. Four Frosted Flakes: May 2011

http://fourfrostedflakes.blogspot.com/2011_05_01_archive.html

Oh the places we will go! Monday, May 9, 2011. Well, Mike and I finally decided it was time for Bryant to transition into a "Big Boy" bed. We have been working on potty training and told him that he will soon get a "Big Boy" bed. He specifically asked for a race car bed so. We caved and got him a race car bed. AND a race car pillow which was also very important to him. *note the cars pillow* :-) Well we surprised him Friday night just before bedtime and he was thrilled. "Oooh, race car bed!

Four Frosted Flakes: January 2011

http://fourfrostedflakes.blogspot.com/2011_01_01_archive.html

Oh the places we will go! Sunday, January 9, 2011. Being the crazy people we are, rather than relax and enjoy our time off over Christmas break, Mike and I decided to rip apart our downstairs bathroom. Since we moved in, the bathroom has periodically produced some interesting smells. Not just when Mike uses it either. Every time it gets humid, it smelled like a mix of cat and mustiness. When we moved in, the light fixtures were hanging off the wall. We replaced the light fixtures right away. Picture Wind...
