Travel to Live : Live to Travel. Archived Posts from this Category. October 4, 2013. Scotland: Day 4–Driving South and Crossraguel Abbey. Posted by mytraveltidbits under by Karen. Today we wake up to a clear sky! This is good news as we have a long drive ahead of us. Granted the long drive is self-imposed as we could certainly take the the bigger roads to the south, but we are bent on sightseeing. Later on I was wishing I had wrapped up the second one and brought it along. September 29, 2013. So we wake ...

Travel to Live : Live to Travel. September 22, 2013. Scotland: Day 1–Glenburnie House & Ee-Usk. Posted by mytraveltidbits under by Karen. We decided to spend 3 nights in Oban. Fortunately we were taught the correct pronunciation of Oban before we got there. At first we were saying o-ban ( ban such as to forbid people from using (something) : to say that something cannot be used or done) but it is actually pronounced obun. We chose Glenburnie House Bed and Breakfast. Leave a Reply Cancel reply. Address ne...

Travel to Live : Live to Travel. September 29, 2013. Scotland: Day 3–Trip to the Isles of Mull and Iona. Posted by mytraveltidbits under by Karen. Once we made it to the other end of the island we waited in line for the ferry to Iona. After we landed on Iona we immediately found a place to eat lunch and then we were off to explore the small island with the ruins of a Benedictine Nunnery along with the Iona Abbey. The abbey did fall somewhat into ruins but was restored at the beginning of the 20th century.

Two Old Broads Take a Wee Trip. Sunday, May 29, 2011. Bus and Booze, Rain and Snooze. We’ve arrived in Oban after a day on the bus with stops along the way. More about that in the next posting. Yesterday, we left our country manor for a tour of the Isle of Skye. http:/ en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Skye. Of course, it was raining but we’ve gotten used to that and with “THE” old broad raincoats, we stayed pretty dang dry. The people who remain are some of the most ardently Gaelic Scots in Scotland.
