Tuesday, October 18, 2011. My husband and I are heading up Daylesford way tomorrow to do a final inspection on the new house before settlement next week. After we've performed the necessary duties I've put in a request to have lunch at the local institution, Cliffy's Emporium. Weather wise it's going to be a beautiful day tomorrow, so I hope we score a table outside. Of course, I'll have to pick up some local produce while I'm there. Friday, October 21, 2011. Melbourne has a heavy sprinkling of semi-industrial style cafes, so it's a refreshing change to see this new cafe in Clifton Hill that's influenced by Scandinavian style. I must have walked through the very beautiful Block Arcade and on to Block Place hundreds and hundreds of times in the past twenty years or so.how is it that I never even noticed Olio Cucina e Trattoria. Just shows how sadly lacking my observation skills are! But next time I stroll through Block Place I'm going to stop, look around and grab a coffee or meal at Olio. I love the red geraniums, brightly painted stair rails and the use of colanders and tomato tins as lightshades!

Saturday, 19 April 2014. Easter in New York 2. What a difference a week can make. Lots of sunshine, warmer temperatures and presto! Central Park's crocus are gone, replaced by swathes of daffodils and bluebells. The magnolias are in full bloom…. Even some of the cherry trees are in blossom.
