Close your eyes, reach inside…. Laquo; #107 – Poetry. The Rainbow’s End #4. September 30, 2009 by stusharp. Luke A. Thompson. So we hired this scarecrow. Yincent. My sister saw the ad in the Cambrian News and said ‘Is he for real? He said he had Essential Tremors and he probably drank too much, but the shaking helped his work. ‘Makes you look real,’ he said. Before dawn every morning I let the cat out, and I see Yincent setting up. I think it’s nice he’s there and I wave, and he waves. Timmy asked. M...

Close your eyes, reach inside…. Laquo; Spring Nonfiction. The Sixth Хорошо: Interview with Nazila Isgandarova. Poetry Issue # 151. April 30, 2013 by peace is illegal. I know, I know. What happened to March’s issue? You ask. Well, funny story. I got caught up with school, work, internship and life. Actually, that wasn’t remotely funny one bit. So, you know, same old shit here at Gloom Cupboard. Cavalierly, he announces. A war is a war is a war. By any other name, Napalm would smell as sweet. Fields emptie...

THE MONTUCKY REVIEW: RECANTED
http://montuckyreview.blogspot.com/2015/07/recanted.html
Tuesday, July 14, 2015. There are hidden letters after x, y, z. Except in the dusty history halls in library whispers. Forgotten in the murk of the dark ages. When children would sing-song smiling. Through twenty-six friends,. Always in order, always tidy. The harmony rose up through the major scale. To resolve softly on the ultimate consonant. Before those toddlers’ faces turned grimace. To continue the blackly dirge. Past that darkened horizon lay horror. For in those hidden murky corners. Zygote in My...

Musings Along Electric Avenue: RICE AND MEANS
http://musingsalongelectricavenue.blogspot.com/2010/09/rice-and-means.html
Saturday, September 11, 2010. People of means do not eat rice. Risotto is a rich person’s dish, the name dressed up as much as the simple kernel itself. Fifty pound bags of granular substance are reserved for second and third world countries. To make a meal of rice is so un-American, it is justified only by the accompaniment beans and maracas. Yet this snubbed food symbolizes home to me. Not because I am from a rice country, but because we didn’t have much. Labels: rice to riches. Disenthralled - Issue 4.

Living the Short Story. Stories I Like and Lit Crit Lite. Saturday, July 25, 2009. Chekhov's "Sleepy": When Baby Murder Doesn't Seem So Bad. 160; . Can you think of a storyteller so adept at his skill that his readers find themselves sympathetic to the murder of a baby? In the middle period of his career, Anton Chekhov accomplished just such a feat. Chekhov’s “Sleepy”. The lamp flickers. The patch of green and the shadows are set in. Slumbering brain are fashioned into misty visions. Beyond the...

Musings Along Electric Avenue: 51st State: Newest Mexico
http://musingsalongelectricavenue.blogspot.com/2010/08/51st-state-newest-mexico.html
Wednesday, August 25, 2010. 51st State: Newest Mexico. In an age when illegal immigrants from Mexico aren’t deterred by barbed wire, gunfire, or Arizona’s legalized profiling, isn’t it time to redirect those millions of taxpayer dollars and invest them in a sure-fire plan? For a year’s budget that goes to fighting drugs in the U.S. that slip from in Mexico, it could be stopped permanently with one swift military action. Why haven’t we then? Without drug money and drug lord interference, North American ma...

Musings Along Electric Avenue: Till Cold Feet Do Us Part
http://musingsalongelectricavenue.blogspot.com/2010/03/till-cold-feet-do-us-part.html
Wednesday, March 24, 2010. Till Cold Feet Do Us Part. As an adult with a thermostat-regulated gas furnace, no wood to chop, and insulated walls, there is little need for this New England bedroom staple. But like warm cookies and hot chocolate, it is a comfort, a guilty pleasure. But unlike such American staples as Star Wars and Corvette, the original benefited from its update: the electric mattress pad. Labels: couple fight cold. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Disenthralled - Issue 4.
The Devil's Club: Waking Up in Detroit
http://thedevilsclub.blogspot.com/2013/12/waking-up-in-detroit.html
The Devil's Club is where Robert E. Livingood types some of his stories. It is also his favorite plant–a large thorny species, prolific in the temperate Northwest, with purgative berries and a medicinal root used to ward off malevolence. Saturday, 14 December 2013. Waking Up in Detroit. Photo: Yves Marchand and Romain Meffre. Expectations drowned in a sea of misery. Sounding a siren- the beacon of trust and tranquility. Shattered in the twilight. Bleeding from the door of a broken home and a wooden heart. Dreaded fog of innocence lifted,. And a world revealed in the age of trespassing fragility. A cross to bear for all of eternity. Now with pyres smoldering.
