Due to new safety rules the gate from our final campsite to the ancient ruins of Machu Picchu now remains closed until 5am every morning. For this reason we got to “sleep in” until 4am. That gave us time to grab a final sumptuous breakfast before beginning to queue at the gate! I know my mother always told me never to play with my food but I could not resist the temptation to have a little fun with my pancakes and dolce con leche!

Big soft leather seats that reclined almost fully were just perfect for the trip which in total was 36 hours long! On the seats were big soft blankets and pillows.
