A Lilongwe Home: You Were Here
http://alilongwehome.blogspot.com/2013/02/you-were-here.html
Thursday, February 28, 2013. Graffiti is not a good thing. Let me (Bruce) say that from the beginning. When I was young, the standard line of graffiti, when the person leaving the message had no artistic ability or imagination, was simply to write, "Bruce was here" or "John was here" or whatever. You get the idea. John's wife (far left) and just 2 of the kids are his. The bathroom (back corner) and garden. Whether we're given a leading role or are seemingly an "extra" - there's no telling what God is goi...

A Lilongwe Home: The Real Inconvenient Truth
http://alilongwehome.blogspot.com/2013/02/the-real-inconvenient-truth.html
Friday, February 15, 2013. The Real Inconvenient Truth. The last verse of "It is Well With My Soul" says, "And Lord, haste the day when my faith shall be sight.". The next lines talk about trumpets sounding and the Lord descending to come get us - but in reality, most of us experience our "faith as sight" on the other side of our last breath here. Should we pray: "Lord, haste the day."? Couldn't that be considered a little morbid? Isn't that a bit of a cop out? Posted by The Hanlon Family.

A Lilongwe Home: January 2013
http://alilongwehome.blogspot.com/2013_01_01_archive.html
Sunday, January 27, 2013. Back in the Saddle Again. Now I'm asking myself (and you) if this is a good thing or a bad thing? Genesis 2 makes it clear that we are created to work. Work was given to us by God before the fall and so it's not part of the "curse" of our disobedience. The Bible affirms "work with our hands" (1 Thessalonians 4:11) and to do whatever we do "as to the Lord" (Ephesians 6:7). So God is obviously happy with our working - right? Burned out on religion? Come to me. Get away with me...

A Lilongwe Home: Visiting Zomba
http://alilongwehome.blogspot.com/2013/04/visiting-zomba.html
Monday, April 22, 2013. A couple of weeks ago we took our family and went to visit Zomba, which is about 4 hours from our house and is located within an hour from the big city of Blantyre. There are a number of ABC students who live in Zomba and our friend, Chikondi (a senior at ABC) graciously offered to guide us to his home town. We have been hearing for two years how beautiful Zomba is and we are very happy to discover that it is perhaps the most beautiful place that we have visited in Malawi so far.

A Lilongwe Home: August 2012
http://alilongwehome.blogspot.com/2012_08_01_archive.html
Saturday, August 18, 2012. One of the Malawian’s we’ve been sent here to love is John. John came into our lives almost a year ago when our gardener left and we needed to find a replacement. I had seen John working around the grounds of ABC and he was always quick to help when he saw the need and he was incredibly diligent in everything he did. He is great with our kids, incredibly gracious, and one of the hardest workers I’ve met. This is a practice that is quite common throughout this part of the world.

A Lilongwe Home: December 2012
http://alilongwehome.blogspot.com/2012_12_01_archive.html
Saturday, December 15, 2012. Home for the Holidays. On Saturday, December 8. The Hanlon family touched down in Washington D.C. after a 26 hour journey from Lilongwe, Malawi. After spending 5 wonderful days with Bruce’s parents we headed to Boston and on the night of our arrival Bruce met with an allergist who began the process of hearing the full problem and starting him on a path to (we pray) lead to his full recovery. There are a couple meetings yet to take place but so far we are very encouraged.
