The kids of Willow Falls know something is afoot! In this fifth installment in Mass's Willow Falls. Or the more poignant Finally.

Not Acting My Age: August 2014
http://blog.goldschp.net/2014_08_01_archive.html
Not Acting My Age. I Know Im Not a Girl. Sunday, August 31, 2014. Flora and Ulysses, by Kate DiCamillo. A clever and wacky fantasy that intermixes odd-ball characters, poetry, and comic-book styling (complete with storyboard interludes) together to tell a story about a girl and her amazing squirrel friend. It's completely chaotic and absurd, but in a way that you can enjoy if you let your grown-up sensibilities go (whether children will even understand it is another matter altogether! Valley and her brot...

Not Acting My Age. I Know Im Not a Girl. Saturday, May 16, 2015. 100 Sideways Miles, by Andrew Smith. If you haven't figured out that this is boy book (complete with scatological references, beer guzzling, and endless discussion of sexual arousal) then the proposition is pretty well laid out by the book's cover: a depiction of a horse's corpse. Not Acting My Age: April 2015
http://blog.goldschp.net/2015_04_01_archive.html
Not Acting My Age. I Know Im Not a Girl. Saturday, April 25, 2015. Lying Out Loud, by Kody Keplinger. Sonny has a problem telling the truth. She's hiding out in her best friend's room - for months - allegedly because she was kicked out of the house. She has trouble holding down an after school job because she keeps lying to her boss. Despite the fact that her loose relationship with the truth is hurting her, she allegedly can't stop herself. I honestly hated this character. It's pretty much de rigeur.
