Sound and vision: june mood. Tutorial / fabric covered buttons →. It’s been a strange year in San Francisco. The glorious, warm, summery weather we typically expect to get no more than 2-3 weeks of down here Has Not Quit. Did I mention it’s been glorious? Okay, I’ll calm down. But seriously, my closet was not prepared for all this (glorious! I used my rolled hem foot to finish the hem. Now I’ve gotta tell you, I’ve never had a rolled hem turn out this good! I’m not sure if the difference was me or ...

my year of knitting dangerously
http://everythingelsewedo.com/2014/11/07/my-year-of-knitting-dangerously
My year of knitting dangerously. You guys, i apologize in advance for this epic rant. i wrote a far more succinct and diplomatic version of this post on a flight back from chicago a week ago, after which i noticed my computer charger had mysteriously disappeared from my checked bag (? And my laptop sat lifeless for a few days while i waited to get a new charger. in that time, the concept of this post morphed somewhat in my head, and now i feel like there’s just a lot more to say. Go back to school (again?

Parka of glory – McCalls 6531 – Yes I Like That
https://yesilikethat.wordpress.com/2014/11/25/parka-of-glory-mccalls-6531
Yes I Like That. Parka of glory – McCalls 6531. November 25, 2014. Behold the greatest thing I have ever sewn:. Okay so it’s not a real parka – it doesn’t have a proper fishtail and it isn’t lined. You probably couldn’t wear it on a scooter down to Brighton without your fellow mods laughing at you. But I’m really proud of it all the same. This has been a long time in the making. I bought the fabric more than two years ago. And the pattern and notions (it’s McCalls 6531. Excellent timing as usual. The len...

Reves Mecanique: Sew it up week 1, dreaming of Tokyo..
http://revesmecanique.blogspot.com/2014/05/sew-it-up-week-1-dreaming-of-tokyo.html
Sewing, creating, dreaming. Monday, May 12, 2014. Sew it up week 1, dreaming of Tokyo. For the first challenge we were given a pattern that we had to work with. The pattern was for a Chanel style jacket. It was as if Caroline and Hanne (the organisers) had read my summer to-sew list. My jacket is made out of a lightweight linen and I chose to add embellishments in the form of Sashiko embroidery. For the pants I used my own drafted pleated pants pattern. It’s quite a simple pattern but I think t...I hope ...

A Dream of a Pencil Skirt – THE COMPULSIVE SEAMSTRESS
https://bellemegan.wordpress.com/2014/11/15/a-dream-of-a-pencil-skirt
It's a compulsion, I just have to sew, sew, sew! A Dream of a Pencil Skirt. Pencil Skirt #120 from BurdaStyle magazine July 2012. Using up the second piece of fabric from Evie of Pendle Stitches. I love this pencil skirt pattern! Technical drawing from Burdastyle. Usually there is a degree of “sway back” fiddling to do, but not here. Great darts for a fabulous fit. The back fits really well. I recon this skirt’s a hit, it’ll be fab for school and won’t really need ironing either! Going into the stash!
