Fourwheeler: January 2015
http://fourwheelsanywhere.blogspot.com/2015_01_01_archive.html
Saturday, 31 January 2015. Week One of a New Lifestyle. And the amount of detail I then provide depends on how much time either of us has, and how close I relate to them. So, what have I actually been doing? Leading one day to compiling it into a book for my nearest and dearest. And how have I felt about being retired, albeit only temporarily at present? Saturday, 24 January 2015. All up One End. Saturday, 17 January 2015. For example, one of my colleagues a few years ago, whose family circumstances it s...

Fourwheeler: Two Halves, and lots of Changes!
http://fourwheelsanywhere.blogspot.com/2015/07/two-halves-and-lots-of-changes.html
Friday, 17 July 2015. Two Halves, and lots of Changes! The working week therefore began with a phone call to say I was available, and it was some while later that I was sent to Cheshunt, with a collection in Harlow on the way back. A couple of hours at home preceded a later collection in Milton Keynes, for delivery in Hitchin the next morning - and that not until 8.30! Into something exciting, things began to change in my favour. As I was about to pull into the gateway for this collection, came a pho...

Fourwheeler: February 2015
http://fourwheelsanywhere.blogspot.com/2015_02_01_archive.html
Friday, 27 February 2015. I've chosen that title, not because I've been doing a lot of exercise, or visited a health farm, or anything so virtuous. It's just that my health seems to have been fairly well up in the week's agenda. This has been the second week of my much trumpeted 'Phased Retirement Plan' (I promise to put the trumpet away soon . the same tune can get boring! So once more there are no exciting travels to report. Home once more, I dried out, and focussed my attention on tidying the desk and...

Fourwheeler: December 2014
http://fourwheelsanywhere.blogspot.com/2014_12_01_archive.html
Friday, 26 December 2014. This is the time of year when weeks take on a different shape. Since my childhood, this week has always been made up in this fashion: Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Saturday, another Sunday, 'Someday' and then Saturday again. Someday? Then there's the booze, of course, (more of that anon.) and the chocolate . loads of it, on its own in all shapes and sizes, or coating biscuits or a variety of nuts and cremes; even some in square blue boxes imitating fruit! Although Her Majesty would n...

Fourwheeler: November 2014
http://fourwheelsanywhere.blogspot.com/2014_11_01_archive.html
Saturday, 29 November 2014. The Present Reality. with Echoes from the Past. It's been an interesting week. Let's begin with some statistics: it's only the second time since the take-over that I've done 20 jobs in a week; and yesterday was only the eleventh time in my twelve-and-a-half-year career that a single day has provided seven jobs! One evening 'meal' consisted of a (large) sausage roll! It's true what some say: this is not a job for a family man! And then 'which floor? I could answer the first, bu...

Fourwheeler: Too Much of a Good Thing!
http://fourwheelsanywhere.blogspot.com/2015/07/too-much-of-good-thing.html
Saturday, 4 July 2015. Too Much of a Good Thing! Holiday weather . it's always the same - the good weather greets your return, rather than accompanies you for the vacation. But this time, I think - even despite a wet Monday in the motorhome - I got it right. This week has certainly been hot for driving, but it would have been unbearable for sightseeing. I clocked 34.5 degrees at Heathrow on Wednesday afternoon, and 29 yesterday. To offer when circumstances are different! Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).

Fourwheeler: September 2014
http://fourwheelsanywhere.blogspot.com/2014_09_01_archive.html
Saturday, 27 September 2014. Good, Better, Best! In contrast, the working day began with a job to Greenford and then one around the M25 from Cuffley to Esher. Mary McAleese Boyne Valley Bridge. I've said here before that my preference is always to go to Ireland via Holyhead, to avoid the long trek to Stranraer. Although the M1 north from the end of the excellent Port Tunnel (only a €3.00 toll outside the rush-hour! Once that hurdle was overcome, it was simply a case of sitting and waiting; the boxes were...

Fourwheeler: August 2015
http://fourwheelsanywhere.blogspot.com/2015_08_01_archive.html
Saturday, 29 August 2015. I described last week as 'interesting'. This week was possibly more so; I leave it to my readers to decide which meaning they apply to the word this time. Monday was a good day. When I received a mail order delivery on Tuesday evening, the driver saw my uniform as I answered the door and asked me about working for CitySprint. 'How many jobs do you get in a day? Leave it with me." I was told. He asked. I explained, but decided not to translate, leaving him to think that it wa...

Fourwheeler: October 2014
http://fourwheelsanywhere.blogspot.com/2014_10_01_archive.html
Saturday, 25 October 2014. I've been thinking about light this week; and that, of course, includes lights, and more philosophical enlightenment, too. The sky on Thursday evening was riven with more lights, as lots of fireworks were let off to mark Diwali, the Hindu Festival of Lights. I was a little apprehensive, since I had to get up early yesterday morning, but fortunately my bedroom is on the opposite side from the 'noisy quarter', and I was undisturbed. I guess it's all a matter of balance. Many of t...

Fourwheeler: June 2015
http://fourwheelsanywhere.blogspot.com/2015_06_01_archive.html
Saturday, 27 June 2015. Slices of Life . and Death. It's been strangely symetrical, this holiday week . and I do. A pitch beneath the trees. The site at Bwch-yn-Uchaf (the name means 'The Highest Buck'. I think) was a little more primitive than the bespoke club sites, but the facilities were clean and adequate, and on reflection I think it was, for me at least, the most pleasant of the three locations. I found the centre somewhat characterless in its newness, but clearly a good place to shop. In Stevenag...
